Hi,
The hotel we are staying at has a pool bar, What is the US etiquette when only ordering drinks, Do you tip and if so is it at the end of the night or after each drink x
:)

Really it's at the point when you pay - so if you have a tab which you pay at the end of the night then that's when you'd tip. Generally unless you're having just one drink then you'd have a tab open, particularly if it is at your hotel.
If you're sitting at the bar and just having one drink, and paying cash, then just leave a bit of extra cash on the bar, rounded up to the nearest dollar, so for, say, a $12 round I'd probably leave $2 on the bar, something like that...

Tip is usually $1 a drink however the better you tip the better service and drinks you get ;) Especially if you go a few times and see the same bartender :goodvibes

You tip when you pay - if you order at the bar and pay you tip then. If you are sitting in a lounge and have a tab - you tip when you clear your tab.

I always pay for drinks as we have them, it is far far too easy for a bartender to add an extra drink or an extra round if you are drinking at a bar for a few hours.
Check if there is a tip already included, if cruising they usually added 15% automatically. I still tip an extra $1-2/round ontop of the 15%, it gets us stronger drinks and faster service.

If we are ordering drinks from a bar, we generally pay tips as we go. Usually $1 for a soft drink or beer, where the barman has to do nothing more than open a bottle/pour into a glass. For cocktails/mixed drinks, we will generally leave a couple of dollars.

In places like Jellyrolls, where we have had an open tab, we just added a percentage to the bill at the end of the night (usually we are far more generous than we should be, having our purses loosened by alcohol) :rotfl2:

A couple of years ago, on holiday with friends, we popped into the bar at Kidani village for a couple of drinks. A couple of hours (and a few drinks)later, we got the check, added on a tip and paid. The next morning, I checke dthe amount and realised I'd added on a hefty $50 tip (the check was just over $80).

The pool bars in the on-site Universal hotels automatically add an 18% tip!!

Stayed at RPR last year, can't see us going back again, even if you are lucky to find a reasonable rate the extras are crazy, parking, internet, tips. Wasn't as if the room was anything special, we moved there from a Country Inn & suites room at £29 incl breakfast, internet, parking, fridge, microwave....... better standard than the tired RPR room.

Thank you everyone again, did not want to embarrass myself or offend everyone, this place is becoming my new godsend and secret obsession x:love:
