Hello all! Will be using DME to get to and from MCO my trip this spring break. I plan on taking all of my luggage with me on the bus to the resort, since I want ot have it as soon as I get there.

I heard that if you do bring your luggage on DME and the driver stores it for you, you should tip them.
How much will you usually tip?

TIA!

We always tip $2.00 per bag with a minimum $5.00.These people work hard and I don't feel $5.00 will break us.Iknow it comes with the package but I bet they do not make that much . It feels nice to start and end on a nice note.

I've always got a five dollar bill in my pocket, ready to hand out. But....it's certainly not an automatic thing. I've been on a DME, with no bags, where the driver made the ride incredibly enjoyable. He chatted about things to see and do in the area. He gave little snippets of area historical info, all while driving very safely. He got $5 what I got off the bus. On the other hand.....there was the time I had a carry on bag that was stowed beneath the bus. I was fully prepared to tip. But, I wasn't greeted when I arrived at the bus...driver just stood there, scanning vouchers. He didn't say a word once we drove off. Not a single word until the first resort. He announced the resort, and then said, and I quote, 'gratuities are always very welcome'. Of course, there is signage right there that states this. So, he was asking for a tip...at every single resort. He never said a word as I got off...he handed me my bag, and I walked away. I think he was very surprised. But I give tips because the service I got was above and beyond what I expected. Simply because he put my bag under the bus and then handed it to me later isn't enough.

So...long story short....be prepared to tip. I usually tip $1 a bag, minimum of $3.

What happens when you room is not ready yet? You have to lug you luggage to be checked to the bell hop. Then when you come back either you pick up your luggage or have them deliver it. A tip for the driver a tip for the bell hop. tips add up.

Last year was the first time I took the DME it was great. I board the bus checked in and then went to the park.

They text me when the room was ready. When I return to the hotel my luggage was in the room waiting for me.

You got to be stress free.

I will be going with 5 of my friends on this trip and we will all have bags. Would it be bad if I collected the tip money from them before we went on the bus and just handed the driver money from all of us?

Shouldn't be an issue. Tipping is done when you get off the bus and the driver hands you your bags. It could be confusing if he hands the bags to 5 different people but only 1 person tips him heavily. But, he won't say anything.
