Tipping DVC Housekeeping

I am new to the DVC. I have a question, if housekeeping only cleans the room every fourth day or so. How much should I tip and when????

I personally leave about $5 when they come in to do the trash and tidy. We never stay long enough for a full clean.

For a 1br, we can be a little messy with 2 kids under 4, I'll leave about $2 per day.

This is brought up every so often on the DVC boards. DVC mousekeeping is not a tipped position so tipping is not required. Some tip, some don't.

We usually stay in a 1 bedroom for 6 nights (Sun-Sat). There are of us (3 adults, 1 kid). On T&T day I leave $5 and on checkout I leave $8-$10. We aren't very messy and leave the rooms in pretty good shape.

We usually leave $2/per person per day. It's only two adults in the room, but we always leave that!

We stayed in a 2BR last year - it was 3 adults and 2 kids (3yr and 5mo). We didn't get mid-week service because we always seemed to have a kid napping when they came around, so we left the tag on the door asking to not be disturbed. We did catch them in the hallway one day to swap out towels and get rid of the trash. I left $20 at the end of the week. I figured the room was a little bit of a mess (not bad, we cleaned up pretty good, but with the chaos we didn't do a great job).

When I owned DVC, that is exactly what we did.

It really depends on what size unit you have too. IF you have a kitchen and bathroom(s) to clean, then you should tip more if you choose to. I tip $2 for trash/towel day in a studio, $5 in a 1 bedroom. On full cleaning day I usually leave $5 for a studio. Never stay in a 1 bedroom longer than 7 days. I do stay in a studio for 2 weeks twice a year so always have 1 T&T, 2 Full cleanings.
