Going on 4 day Wonder and have a Cat. 2 Suite. Suggestions on how much and when to tip Concierge. Thanks to all who post on this board, I have learned so much. :disrocks:

We’ve never stayed in a Cat 2, but the last several times in the Walt Disney Suite, we tipped $75 per person/per crew member per day. While on the other ship, we were in the Roy Disney Suite and found the service a bit less inclusive (I guess we were just spoiled by the attention the first several times—even our worn items were folded and prepared for hand laundering. Further, they would come and fluff our pillows every few hours during the night and while in the Roy they only came twice a night. My DS was also disappointed that in the Roy, they didn’t fold the individual toilet paper folds into origami animals but during the morning, mid-day, and evening keepings. On the Walt, it was between uses of each family member.) and only tipped about $60 per person/per crew member per day.

Hope this helps!

I swear I read somewhere on this board that Concierge staff were not allowed to accept tips. Is that incorrect?

The only additional tipping that we did, was to the stateroom host/hostess. A few more beds for them to make and more space to keep clean, so I thought that was appropriate. We have never tipped the concierge team as I also thought it was against policy.

:rotfl: comical post Suez. I especially liked the "all night fluffing of the pillows".

I heard, too, that if you wanted to make a "run for the border" that they would request the captain divert to a port in Mexico so you could get a chimi-changa - is that true, too? :goodvibes

Concierge and staff members in general have a 3 times rule. They can only accept a tip atfer they have been offered it 3 times. I guess they figure if you are that insistant, you must really want them to have it. Got the info direct from a very reliable source. We have invoked it on our last few cruises :cool1:

We were in a category 3 last summer and did tip. We took personalized note cards with us with phone cards in them for the two concierge members. They ended up doing so much for us that I also added money to each envelope.

we (DH & myself - 20th wedding anniversary) are scheduled 11/30/06 for DCL "Wonder" - Cat 3. What should we expect from concierge, we've never stayed @ a concierge level. When we go to DW we usually go to WL (standard or courtyard view); this will be a new experience for us. We are very excited.

I hope someone can enlighten me with what to expect !! :goodvibes

thanks !

We have stayed in a Cat. 2 on all three of our cruises. The concierge team politely declined tips each time I have offered stating they are not allowed to accept tips. HTH

We were on the Magic in January. Our team accepted the tips we left on the last night. We left an envelop for each one with the stateroom book that they pick up. They thanked us nicely, no problem. My understanding is that it generally is not necessary to tip a concierge (you would not tip a butler) and I am sure that in some places it might be considered insulting. But I view the American cruise ship industry differently as tips seem to be expected by almost everyone. We will plan to tip them again on our next trip. Just my thoughts. ::MickeyMo
