Tipping - cash, card, magic band?

In my everyday life I prefer to always pay the tip for a restaurant meal in cash, whether the meal is paid for in cash or by card. This is, in part, to ensure that the server gets the full tip (minus anything shared with the bar and bus staff) rather than management not giving any or all of it to them, or deducting CC fees from it before giving it to them.

This will be my first on-site stay and first dining plan. I'm trying to decide how much cash to buy to bring with (I'm in the UK and the exchange rate is the worst it's been for us in decades). Obviously I will need to tip luggage handling, mousekeeping and taxi/uber in cash, but is it ok etiquette-wise to pay the tip for a meal on my MB (aka charge to hotel) or CC? It just feels so strange to me, because it's not how I normally do things. I just want to check no one will be offended if the tip on a DDP meal is paid that way.

I know, I'm weird.

You're not weird! But don't worry about it, there is no etiquette problem with paying tips via cc or Magic band. Even taxis and uber can take cc tips, by the way (unless you somehow encounter a taxi without a cc reader). Now that I'm thinking about it, since Magic bands came out, we have really only carried cash when we took a taxi from one resort to another, to avoid having to carry a credit card.

We always pay for our Mousekeeping tip by cash, left in envelopes that I have premade at home, then we write a little note each day to thank them on the envelope. For the rest of the tips we usually use our Magic Band.

I'm a server (not at WDW,) and I do have a slight preference for cash, but it's really not that big of a deal. I wouldn't recommend that anyone traveling keep a ton of cash with them for tips.

I always add the tip to the charge on my MB, and when I pay with a CC instead of the MB, I pay the tip with my credit card. No server is ever going to think it's weird, it's more common to do it that way than in cash as far as I can tell (and according to my friends who are servers and bar tenders). Definitely not an ettiquette breach.

We always tip in cash. My wife and I in our early years waited tables. Cash was the best then, that way you didn't have to get out the carbon papers to run the credit card through! :)

I can assure you, unless Disney has NO back up generators in a complete black out, no server on property will ever come close to carbon papers these days lol!! But I too remember well and still have a stack in my office as I am NOT Disney and my machines unfortunately do go down...you should see the look on some bartenders' faces when I bring out the OG flatbed machine...they have NO idea what it is :rolleyes2

oh, i believe it. my kids don't even know what they are.

Thanks everyone. I've just remembered that I get a $200 GC when we arrive part of our package, so I can use that toward tipping and bring a bit less cash. Thanks so much for all the helpful replies. It's really appreciated. I figured it was fine, but I'm old school :)
