Tipping at DVC resorts?

Please pardon my ignorance, but I'm getting ready for my first DVC trip ever. We leave tomorrow for 6 nights at OKW!!!!

I'm wondering if it is customary to leave a tip for housekeeping. Normally I would know how to tip at a resort when housekeeping comes every day. But what about in my situation where housekeeping will only come once during our stay? I have no problem tipping if that is appropriate, but I'm wondering how much would make sense.

Can anyone give me a little advice on this? Many thanks

I wish I could help - I use to leave a tip - but the maid (sometimes we were there) told me she couldn't take it - other times it was taken. I also try to tip the service maintaince people (I generally have some minor problems) and they laughed and say that is was not necessary. The bell services and the valet always take the tips.

I don't normally leave a tip in the room for housekeeping. I would always tip an individual if they have gone out of the way or are providing me with a requested service. For instance bringing me extra pillows, or a hair dryer.

I tip at DVC the same as I would if staying at any hotel/resort.

We tipped just a little less that we normally do if we were staying on cash, under the assumption we should tip when the housekeeper is doing a job - but if we were there on points, we're now a room she does NOT get a tip for and that may be a big deal for her.

We just left the envelope at the end of the stay. Obviously this might be a different housekeeper than I might have had for the trash and towel visits I had, but I would hope they are honest about it amongst each other.

Who knows, maybe they get paid more for being a villa maid, under the assumption they might get tipped less. Good question...

If we use bell services we tip them. As far as housekeeping goes we leave a tip, but they do not always do that great a job on the full cleaning day. Everyone has their own opinion on housekeeping Tipping. If we do not have a car and want to get a cab, I find that a small tip to the bell captain gets better service.
