I got my ADR at Cindy's Royal Table but trying to figure out if I should pay OOP or use two credits. Now my question is that on the DDP the castle is one place where your tip is still included. Does that mean it is included in the price if you pay OOP. :confused3

Yes the tip is included if you pay OOP as well as being included on the DDP

thanks I thought it might be a stupid question but that's what made sense to me.:upsidedow

I was wondering this too!! Thanks for asking it, that is one that I can knock off my tip list on needing money for.

This is a great piece of info that I have not seen anywhere. I booked there before we had our FD package booked. 2 adults, 1 child. Total cost of list price should be $95.97. (2x$35.99 + $23.99)

They charged me $116.14. I couldn't (and still can't) figure out how they get to that #. The charge is 21% above the above fee. I assume they are charging 18% for the tip based on these posts, but is the tax only 3%? I thought it was higher than that. Or is tax 6% and tip 15%.

Thanks for the help, just when you think you are a Disney expert, someone pops up with something new!

PS From my view, it is still a very ineffective use of dining credits, less effective that even a typical character buffet breakfast, but I would have a hard time paying those prices OOP for what you get. Since we will be on Free Dining again, I wasn't worried about effective use, but I can understand the question.

FWIW, I'm now under the impression that you cannot have CRT booked under the DDP and THEN show up and pay OOP. Even though we have done this in the past the last 2 years, the CM on the phone when I made my ressie for my current reservation said that if I was going to pay OOP, I HAD to charge my CC right then and there because they did not accept ANY type of payment at the restaurant! We had ALWAYS just charged it to our KTTW card before. Is this a change?

I did not know all this. I thought the new DP did not include any tips at all. Does this mean that only Cindy's Castle has tip included? Or do the dinner shows include tip as well, since you need to leave a CC over the phone for an ADR? We have ADRs for the Castle as well as the Luau. Just trying to figure out what is tip included and what is not. Being I am an old waitress I don't want to stiff anyone on a tip.LOL;)

This is what I understand from my own (limited) DDP experience.

I have reservations for both CRT and Spirit of Aloha equalling 4 TS credits.

I called to take CRT off of DDP and paid for it OOP, charged $85 for two adults. 35.99/per person plus 18%. Tip is included. For you, skier_pete, the tip is the difference. But you're right, it does come up to 21%. You should have them double check.

I was told my CC would be charged immediately, although I will not be at CRT for five months. If I decided to cancel (before 48 hours) I would be refunded my full payment. It was not a hold, it was payment.

Both CRT and Spirit of Aloha have included tip, no need to leave anything unless you want to.

k before I had DDP I was told they would charge my CC. But now I have free DDP they only asked if I had Made all my ADR's. I told them I had but wasn't sure if I was going to pay OOP or use DDP for this ressie and pay OOP for 2 of my other ADR's. Said they were not charging the card. I guess if it is true payment cannot be made there (wouldn't know I have not been to that restaurant since I was 6!). I will call back when I am absolutly sure we are paying OOP (fairly certain now) and charge my card.

BTW on DDP I *think* Cindy's castle and the Fantasmic packages are the only ones that have tip included. If I am wrong please correct me. Looks like the above poster says the Spirit of Aloha is included too.

THanks for all the useful info.

I think your tip calculation is not adding up because they only calculate tip on the food portion, not the portion they allocate for the photo package.

OK...I'm confused...in the first few posts I got the impression we were talking about tips being included in the actual price for the meals ($33.99/brk, $35.99/lunch, $40.99/dinner) at CRT if paying OOP. From the last several posts, it sounds like this is not the case. I seems that it is included when your cc is charged, but it is 18% in addition to the meal price. Am I following this correctly? I have a 2008 DDP brochure which does state that tip is included when dining at CRT. I assume it would just tack on an additional 18% which would be covered by DDP...as it used to be at all restaurants prior to this year (AAHH, the good ole' days!)

FYI...it also show the dinner shows (HDDMR, MBYBBQ, and Spirit of Aloha) and Private In-Room Dining/Pizza Delivery all including gratuity as well.

I didn't think that the Fantasmic packages included tip. I may be wrong, and I hope I am as we have a MM package booked for October. Does anyone know for sure?

There is NO extra charge for tips at CRT. The tip is included in the price of the meal.

The Fantasmic Package price doesn't include gratuity. You'd need to pay that at the restaurant. However, it does include an appetizer, even if you are on the basic DDP (not applicable at H&V because that is a buffet).

I thought that tip was included for the signature dining IF it was on the DDP (using two TS credits). I paid the mandatory 18% tip b/c I paid out of pocket (NOT on ddp).

Curiouser and curiouser...

Tips on the DDP are included ONLY for CRT, dinner shows, and in-room dining. They're not included for any other restaurant, signature or not.

Thanks TDC Nala for the info! No tip included for MM Fantasmic, but it's good to know we can get an appy if we want! I'm also happy to hear about CRT as we will be paying OOP for this meal!

Also, to confirm what TDC Nala said...the Signature Restaurant section of the DDP brochure does say that gratuities are not included.

I have no idea if this will be helpful or not, but this is what happend to me last year. We had DDP and I spacifically told the CM on the phone that we were going to pay OOP she said that was fine and said that she put it on my CC. When I got to CRT I just about argued with the CM becuase she said she was showing that it wasn't paid, and I was sure that it was. She even got the manager to make sure it hadn't been already paid. So I paid for it what I thought was the second time. Kind of ruined the meal for me because I sat there puzzled over it. I had read that you HAD to pay in advance if you were paying OOP. So what I finally concluded after making sure it wasn't on my CC statement twice is that since I had the DDP they still must have thought I was going to pay for it that way or something. So I would say that if you have DDP they might not make you pay for it over the phone. If that makes any sense! :confused3

Thanks for all the comments. Being the anal Diz-nut that I am, I couldn't resist finding out from the horses mouth what my charges were for. So, for all of you out there, here's how it breaks down, according to the CRO I spoke with:

For 2 adults and 1 child for lunch
Charge is $35.99 per adult, $23.99 per child.
In our case, this adds to $95.97
They then charge 6.0 % Sales Tax or $5.76
AND then charge 15.0 % Tip or $14.41

This is why it adds to 21 %.
I did not confirm that the tip is included on the DDP
I hope that helps somebody out there.

That is interesting, I always thought the price already included the tip...but your contact said they add the tip when you pay? Then why is the tip included in the dining plan? Because the tip IS included in the dining plan. It says so on the brochure.

Since they increased CRT to 2 table service credits, we have always paid OOP. Just isn't worth 2 credits to us...even with the now included picture package. Maybe they thought if tips were no longer included it would really be a hard sell to justify it being worth 2 credits? Certainly would be to me, but who knows!:confused3
