Im confused. And please forgive my ignorance.

I havent been to america since i was 6. And the whole tipping thing seems very new to me. Now, i do believe i will, and shall tip apropriately... i dont argue that tipping is important.

However in one guide i was reading it says you should tip a concierge 10 to 25 dollars.

Isnt that a bit steep? If I asked a concierge to, for example, book me a town car for the following day to pick me up at 8am wouldnt a couple of dollars suffice for such a quick and easy job?

please do correct me if im wrong.

ps. i know tipping threads can get out of hand so please no arguements hare purely because of my own ignorance.

I think, ordinarily, concierges do things out of the ordinary like getting tickets to shows that are really difficult to get hold of or arranging things which normal hotel receptions couldn't take care of.

As far as I'm aware, this doesn't apply at Disney - can't imagine the concierge there would get you 'an extra pillow' ;) (for anyone who has watched Hotel Babylon). Disney Concierge staff really only book transport and ADRs and get tickets for you so it's not the same. I would definitely say a couple of $ woud suffice.
