Okay so just had the pizza guy deliver my taco pizza and he forgot all the toppings and sauce for it. I couldn't catch him before he drove away. I had tipped him 4 dollars. I had to call in to the store they can't just send the toppings but sending a brand new pizza. Should I tip the driver?

I wouldn't, especially if it's the same driver.

I might tip the new driver a couple bucks but would also be expecting to get the pizza for free. So if you get the new pizza and a refund I would give a small tip. No way should you be paying full price after having to wait another full hour.

Whose responsibility is it to ensure that you have everything? The person providing your food to the delivery guy to deliver, or the delivery guy? I never really knew about that. If it was that the store didn't load him up correctly, it's not really his fault, right?

I would tip if it was another delivery guy for sure, though.

I would unless the driver is the owner or the maker of the pizza.

I have been stiffed on garlic sauce by Papa Johns many times and I didn't know you could call them back and they would bring it to you :confused3 I will definitely call them back next time. Thanks OP

I probably would not. It's not your fault they forgot things and you are already having to wait a very long time for a replacement. While I feel bad the guy has to come out twice, I would not see why I have to pay extra due to that.

If they give you a free pizza, which they should, I might tip a very small amount.

It was a taco pizza from Pizza Hut... They have the lettuce, tomatoes, onion and cheese separate. So it doesn't wilt. A little different then sauce for bread sticks and dipping pizza. Which they also for got the .50 dipping sauce for the breadsticks which I didn't bring up wasn't as important to me or myDD6.

If they're sending out something to correct a mistake and you tipped the first time, you don't need to leave another tip.

I would assume delivery guy. At least the one who just delivered my new pizza said he doubles checks his tickets because he asked why I was only paying for delivery charge... I told him I am not paying a delivery charge. Because of the mistake they had made but told him to hold on and I handed him 2 bucks because he was a different driver.

As soon as I saw it was a new driver I asked my DD for my purse. I didn't think it was fair to him as I don't know if they pool tips. But same guy there was no way I had already tipped him for a service 4 dollars and some change plus a 3 dollar delivery charge on $15.00 worth of food.

Thank you everyone for helping me make a decision. So happy for the DIS boards its faster than FB.. Lol!

I tip generously the first time, because I just love not having to leave the house to get served....

I DO NOT tip the second trip when they have to return because of a mistake they made. And I feel no guilt about it, either.

If they are refunding the price you paid for the original pizza in addition to bringing you a new free pizza with the proper toppings I would tip the delivery driver (even if it is the same one).

If they are not refunding your money and are only bringing you a new pizza, I would not tip a 2nd time regardless if the driver is different or not.

Same here. I did offer a couple of times and the guy refused it.

That's a toughie. On one hand you shouldn't have to pay extra for a product that was bought and had to be re-sent because of a mistake. On the other hand, it isn't the driver's fault. I think I'd split the difference and give half the tip. The driver should understand. Under those circumstances if I were the driver, I would understand whether it was my fault or not. Making an order right shouldn't equal an extra tip. Just my .02.

BTW, that taco pizza sounds good! I might have to try one! :)

It's a tough one...

If it was a different driver I would tip him. It's not that guys fault that the other people messed up and now he has to deal with it. He's been put in a bad situation that he had no hand in making. So I would feel bad about it.
