I posted this on a thread out there, but then thought most people might not see that reply, and this thread on its own might help some people.

Because it takes so long for the credit-card style Disney Dining Experience cards to get to you, I came up with this way of preserving that letter, fax, e-mail you get as confirmation that you have DDE.

I took my e-mail (which I don't think they do anymore) and scaled it down on the copier to credit card size and made two copies - one for me, one for hubby. Then I cut them out and laminated them. I also laminated a full size printout of all of the participating restaurants.

With all of the water rides and rain bursts, the letter will fall apart if you don't take care of it. I found this to be a convenient way to keep my letter in tact, and also to be able to carry it along with my pass, ID and room key.

Hope this helps at least one person out there!!!

That was really thoughtful of you to share, because I would have never thought of that!
I haven't ordered my DDE yet and we leave for WDW May 26th. When I called the CM said I should wait until the middle of May to order if I wanted the extended expiration date, so I could use it on our next trip in 2006. Sounds like some things have changed so I will call earlier now.

What do they send instead of an email?
Can you purchase while at WDW?

Thanks Again for the great tip!

Wanna-b-tink - did you actually use this? The cm's at the restaurants must have been surprised to see it, just wondered what their reaction was. Was it easy to read? Seems like the letters would have been really small.

LIFERBABE: I think it is a fax now. My guess is that people were taking the e-mail which was a Word doc, and putting other's names on them. Just a guess as to why they wouldn't continue this process as it seems the most logical.
I read somewhere earlier today that people are actually ordering the DDE cards from WDW, but I ordered mine from home. And because it took so long for me to actually get my real cards, they added 2 extra months to mine. 14 months for the price of 12!

DebbieB: Yes, they kind of looked at it strange, but I told them I didn't want it to ruin in the rain/water rides and they were like, "cool!".
It was easy to read. The letter itself was only maybe a third of a page to begin with, so I didn't have to size it down much. But if you are carrying a backpack or diaper bag or something, just laminate the full size letter.

Glad I could help out!! I love to laminate. I laminate lots of things. When I have something important that I need or want to keep, I always think...LAMINATE!!!!!!! Ok, its a sickness.

HA!
I lost my dog last week (she is found!) and decided to post posters everywhere. (87). Took them to Office Depot and laminated them...it was great, cause I could nail them to phone poles, anything wood and not fear the snow , rain , sleet etc.

So..I am now a laminate Junkie too!!!
