Hello I have two questions regarding giving tips for Mousekeeping.

#1 - How much per day (is it per person e.g.: 1.00 per person per day)
#2 - If you do not want to waste envelopes, where would you leave the tip?

Thank you!!

not telling what we left, but we tipped at the end of the week, and got the envelope form the front desk, wrote mousekipping on it, and left it on the table when we departed.

leave what you can afford, and what you feel the service was worth...

I usually leave about 5 bucks per day. I leave a note by the coffee pot(to mousekeeper) with the money and usually asking for something extra....ie, pillow, blanket.etc..

Thank you all for the information. I have found some envelopes that I am going to decorate (out of excitement for our trip).

FYI: It's better to tip daily than at the end of your stay because there's no way of knowing what mousekeeper will be working on any given day. You can have Mousekeeper X for the first 5 days of your trip and then Mousekeeper Y on the final day. If you tipped at the end, Mousekeeper X would get zero and Y would get everything.

DH and I (no kids) always leave $5/day. There are a lot of threads covering this topic, so if you have the time, you can search here and read what others are doing.

We tip $1/per person a day. We decorate envelopes. If you don't want to use envelopes-what about under the mousekeepers name card in the bathroom?

i love making envelopes ahead of time and leaving them on the counter above the sink. i leave $5 per day.

There's usually a little card on the vanity from the Mousekeeper. If I don't have any envelopes with me, I put the tip on the vanity and put the Mousekeeping card on top of that. I've never come back to the room to find they haven't taken their tip! ;)

Generally my family leaves $3-5/ per day, left each day, as we do not know when or if the mousekeeper changes. Typically we leave the money, no envelope on the pillow, so it it obvious that it is for the mousekeeper. S/He is sure to find it when they remake the bed. :goodvibes

We made up Mousekeeping envelopes last time- I think that it's sort of fun to leave a little something.
We left $2-3 a day. I don't think it makes a big difference, and of course it is not expected (or shouldn't be)
I've never gotten any towel animals or anything.

We leave $1-$2 per person per day. I take a napkin - write Thank You Mousekeeping on it and put the money inside - I lay it on one of the pillows.

I tip $5/day for myself and DD9. When I had three additional kids with me at the Poly, I tipped $10/day. We made and decorated tip envelopes and left them in the mirror for the Mousekeepers. If you don't have an envelope, just using a sheet of note paper from the resort folded in half around the tip and marked 'Mousekeeping' will do just fine. :thumbsup2
