Any mandatory fee needs to be included in an apples to apples comparison. For example Tiffany Towncar charges a mandatory fuel surcharge on anything other than a sedan. Or the restaurant a few towns over charges an equity fee of 20 percent on all food served (in addition to a tip). I include that in the comparison of how expensive my dinners are compared to another place. I don’t agree with it, but not everyone tips drivers, and for those who do, not everyone tips 20%. If you choose to tip, because a tip is a voluntary choice for service above and beyond, that can be part of your comparison.
20% add-on? That's insane, makes a 3% back of the house tip almost seem reasonable. Mandatory tip = no additional tip, period and would be a one and done.
Thank you all for the feedback! I used a different service last trip and had a bad experience so just wanted to get ideas. I’ll plan for atleast $20 each way and more if needed.
