Tip for AP availability over Internet

The Disneyworld.com site is again offering sale priced rooms, no pass or codes needed. The rates are very good, and appear to be only slightly higher than the AP rates.

When I booked our Nov. 24-28 trip a couple of weeks ago, the Animal Kingdom was my only deluxe option, and I took it. After all, we are pushing into the busy Thanksgiving season, especially on our last day.

Last night I got to playing around on the Internet site, and found that I could get my first two or three nights at the Poly (our first choice), and had planned to call in and arrange a much-dreaded split stay. (I'm sure we would like the AKL, but just didn't want to be in such a remote location for our entire stay. It's really irritating that one can't even walk to the nearby AK.

Anyway, this morning I decided to check on Poly availability again for our entire stay. It wasn't available, but I was told that the Board Walk Inn and the Beach Club both had rooms available at the Internet rate for our entire stay. The Boardwalk Internet rate was about $198 for a standard view. The Beach Club had Concierege for about $300 per night. So I called and asked if I could change my reservation, and sure enough I was able to, getting the AP rate, which I think was a few dollars less than the Internet rate.

Just before writing this post I checked again and saw the BWI was no longer offered, and the only Beach Club offering for my dates was the Concierge room. But certainly the Internet site is a great resource for ferreting out what is available, with the price being close to that of the AP rate. Obviously the availability will change every morning, and throughout the day.

One note: I chose not to book on the Internet, because I was afraid the cancelation policies might be different. But if you really want a certain room, you can just grab it. Be sure to have a membership on the disney site with your password and such, so there is no delay.

p.s. I may continue to look for Poly availability. I think it would be most enjoyable for our 2- and 4-year-old children. But we've stayed at the Boardwalk before and it really suited us, particularly because of the great access to World Showcase restaurants.
