Friday 4th August
Today was Epcot day and we were up, dressed and out by just before 9am. The kids only had a light breakfast and DH & I had none so we decided to grab something when we got there. We got into the parking lot about 9:15am and once inside the park DH went to grab a fast pass for Soarin while the kids and I did some pin trading then got some breakfast at the Fountain View Bakery.
I had a breakfast pocket, which was a pastry stuffed with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and cheese and was lovely. DH had a cinnamon croissant, DD had a chocolate croissant and DS had a slice of chocolate cake. The kids had milk and we had a coffee each. Suitably refreshed we set off for Soarin which even at this time was showing a 30 minute wait. I overheard a CM saying that all the fast passes for the day are usually gone by lunchtime and I can well believe it. We managed to get row 1 in the middle and had a great view. I love this ride, it is probably my favorite in Epcot. One thing I did notice was that the movie is showing signs of wear and there were some marks on the screen here and there.
From Soarin we did living with the land which is another good chance to sit down in the air conditioning. We had an OAP CM who kept tutting at some guests who werent giving her their full attention
Next up was the Circle of Life which, like Living with the Land is heavy on the environmental message. When this was done we went next door to the living seas which is still partly under refurb. We did Talk Time with Crush which was
. cool dude.
Soon it was time to head back to the Land for the kids to make Toll House cookies sponsored by Nestle
. On the way out of the Land were some colourful coral DS had his photo taken with one of them and then nearly had a heart attack when the coral moved and touched him on the head. To calm him down we had an Ice-cream on our way back to the Land and then set about waiting for the cooking to begin. While we were waiting for the cookie baking to start I got chatting to lovely lady from Missouri who was here on a 5 day vacation.
The kids really enjoyed making the cookies and the whole thing lasted for about 20 minutes. First they were given a chefs hat which the CM wrote their name on, then they had to use wipes to clean their hands. They then they got to measure out and mix the ingredients and splat them out onto the baking sheet. The cookie dough was put into the magic Disney oven and hey presto 20 seconds later they came out cooked and cooled. They got to keep the hats and also got 2 cookies each.
All that cooking made us hungry and we decided to get something to eat. DS said he didnt like the look of anything at the Seasons food court so we went to the Electric Umbrella for the usual Chicken strips, burgers and a Beef sandwich thing for DH.
Suitably stuffed we wanted something to churn up all that food so
Test Track was next and there was only a 30 minute wait which was surprising and no wait at all on the single rider line. We were soon in our cars and set off. The ride was very jerky and broke down twice, both for extended periods. DS and I were in one car while DH and DD were in another car somewhere ahead of us. First time we broke down DS & I we were in the cold bit and it got seriously chilly. (I suppose it could have been worse and we could have been in the very hot bit.) The second time was just before the crash test and we sat there for what seemed like ever.
Again I got chatting to the man next to us who was from somewhere near Tampa and he and his wife had been AP members since MK opened and he was telling me all about the parks way back when. We eventually got going again and when we to the unload area we were offered another ride but decided not to bother. We had the usual look at the cars and sat in a few of them.
It was really hot so we took advantage of the opportunity to cool off in some of the misters around the place. Next up was Innoventions East as DS and DD wanted to make a robot, we went to Fantastic Plastic and listed to a talk on plastic which was very interesting
then went to design and race our own robots on a PC and lastly built our own plastic robots which we could take home.
DS & DD really enjoyed doing this although there was a major argument as they didnt win the computer robot race and each one blamed the other. Next up they went over to another favorite attraction, Toon Town Tag.
As we came out we saw some Disney rabbits just chilling on the grass.
It was now around 4pm and the sky was dark and it was very windy. We decided to head out of the park doing Spaceship Earth on the way. This is another ride we like but unfortunately it was lashing rain by the time we came out. We made a dash (of sorts) for the car with DD happily skipping in and out of every puddle on the way. We arrived back at the car well and truly soaked and couldnt be bothered getting dinner so we went to Publix and got some stuff from there. Back at the villa we all went swimming and then watched some TV before bed at 10pm.
