great reviews! We just made the decision to hit F&W and I'm so excited to see the rest of your pics! We are only going to be in the parks for 2 days, do you think we need both to get thru F&W?

Fantastic pics, and very well-written and entertaining reviews. :goodvibes

We too 'fell victim' to Chefs last April. Never again. :headache:

Still really enjoying all of the reviews!
Just so you know, it has always been our experience at Jiko that they bring the bread between the appetizers and entrees. I don't know why, though. I do know that I love, love, love their butter!

Ok. First day off from work since I got back from WDW so I will finish today! Promise! :surfweb: But first...

Ms. H

Hi there and thank you! We LOVE MNSSHP! The assortment of candy that they gave away was very vast. They had bite size Snickers, Milky Way, Twix, Baby Ruth, Butterfingers, Skittles, MnM's, Hot Tamales, Mike n Ikes. They also gave out a lot of chocolate cars and ghosts (the candy inside was like a crunch bar), lemon heads, smarties, laffy taffy, dumdum lollipops, tootsie pops, tootsie rolls, caramel chews, Hershey's kisses, gummy bears, sixlets, and mini hamburger and hot dog gummies. They also seemed to have buckets of mini boxes of raisins at each treat trail that they were trying to give away. It didn't seem like anyone was very interested in the raisins, but it is nice that they were offering a healthier alternative. Have a great time!

Thanks! I think the amount of time you will need depends on what your plans are. If you want to try something from all of the kiosks and really soak up the atmosphere, then yes, I think you will need two days. It took me and my DBF 3 full days to get through the whole World Showcase, but we stopped here and there to do rides and such. We also LOVED the complimentary wine seminars. They take place about ten times a day in the Festival Center (which is located where Body Wars used to be, in between Mission Space and Universe of Energy) and you will need to arrive 45 minutes prior to the start time to wait in line, as they were filling up quickly this year. They will eat up about an hour and a half, between waiting in line and the seminar itself, but they are worth it! We were very fortunate to have very interesting speakers and learned a lot, while getting to try some very interesting wines! They also have tables set up in the back with crayons and coloring pages for kids, so feel free to bring them too! I would put aside the two full days so that you don't feel rushed. It's my favorite time of year at Epcot and I can't wait to go again in 2 weeks! :cloud9:

Day 8 - 9/29

Food and Wine Festival!

Peru
-Arroz con Pato Roast Duck with Cilantro Rice
- Glass of Tacama Gran Tinto

Amazing. I love duck! And while I like red wine, we found that they serve all reds at room temperature, even though it is 90 degrees outside! I know that is how they are supposed to be served, but I stuck mostly to whites because, out in that heat, I like my wine cold regardless of the grape!
DSC02818.jpg

Total (for the duck): $3.25

Canada
-Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup
We skipped Le Cellier this trip in an attempt to use all our dining credits at places we've never eaten before, so I had to get the soup! YUM!
DSC02819.jpg

Total: $3.00

France
-Quiche au Fromage de Chèvre - Goat Cheese and Sun-dried Tomato Quiche
This was very good! We almost went back for seconds..
DSC02820.jpg

Total: $3.75

Austraila
- Grilled Lamb Chop with Caramelized Onions
I thought this was good, but DBF did NOT like the caramelized onions. It was almost like jelly.
DSC02821.jpg

Total: $4.75

China
- Chicken Sha Cha with Peanut Sauce
- Pork Pot Stickers
- Glass of Dragon's Hollow Chardonnay

The Chicken was all right, nothing I'd go back for. The pot stickers, however, were wonderful! DBF doesn't really like Chinese food, and even he liked them! The wine was also tasty.
DSC02822.jpg

Total (for the food): $7.00

Dinner this night was at Coral Reef. This was, by far, my least favorite meal of the trip. DBF enjoyed it much more than I did, but this is one of those places that you go to mostly for the atmosphere. And that alone is worth trying it. We arrived about an hour late for our ADR because we were too busy eating around the world, but we were still lucky enough to be seated within 15 minutes AND got right next to the tank! (Actually, we were seated at a table right next to an open table at the tank, and we asked if we could sit at that one instead, and the server was more than happy to let us.)

Here are some pictures of the restaurant:

DSC02825.jpg

A Shark!
DSC02828.jpg

A huge fish of some kind.
DSC02859.jpg

More big fish.
DSC02874.jpg

Now, for the food.

The Bread.
This was good. And the butter didn't come in foil packets... always a plus ;)
DSC02840.jpg

My Appetizer: Mixed Greens Salad with Key Lime herb vinaigrette
After days of eating like a pig, I was in the mood for a good salad. The dressing was different, which I liked, and the apple slices were a nice touch. Overall, it was good.
DSC02838.jpg

DBF's Appetizer: Caesar Salad with shredded parmesan cheese and croutons
A standard Caesar. Nothing special.
DSC02839.jpg

My Entree: King Crab Legs
Ok. I have eaten a lot of crab legs in my day and these were, by far, the VERY worst! Even worse than Red Lobster which, until now, was at the top of the "bad crab legs" list. At least from Red Lobster, you aren't really expecting anything great. I don't know if it is because they cut them in half, so by the time they come out they are already luke warm, or if they were just not very good legs to begin with, but they were fishy and cold. I almost couldn't even eat them. Good thing there were tons of fish in the tank to distract me a little.
DSC02857.jpg

DBF's Entree: Grilled NY Strip Steak - served with potatoes au gratin, and broccolini
He thought this was very good. I tried it, and agreed. Note to Self - When eating with the fish, order the MEAT!
DSC02858.jpg

My Dessert: The Chocolate Wave - with brandied cherries
This was great. It almost tastes like an undercooked brownie. It could have used some vanilla ice cream, like others have mentioned, but I still ate the whole thing.
DSC02868.jpg

I had wine with dinner, so I got a cappuccino with dessert as my beverage. This was yummy.
DSC02869.jpg

DBF's dessert: Key Lime Tart
He liked this. He's not a big chocolate guy, so he didn't get the chocolate wave, despite my nagging that it was supposed to be amazing. Though, I think after trying mine, he secretly regretted not getting it.
DSC02870.jpg

Total: $119.30

So, we will probably not be back to Coral Reef. Everything was pretty average except the crab legs, which were gross. We are glad that we tried it though. Oh yea, and there was a wedding proposal while we ate! A diver swam down with a "will you marry me sign" and the whole place went nuts! She said yes, of coarse. It was a great way to propose..

Next up: Lots more F&WF and Spoodles!

Day 9 - 9/30

More F&WF!

Hops & Barley Market
- Boston Lager Glazed Chicken Drumstick with Blue Cheese and Celery
This was great, but way too small!
DSC02900.jpg

Total: $3.25

Germany/Oktoberfest
-Debriziner Sausage and Sauerkraut in a Pretzel Roll
- Glass of Schloss Reinhartshausen Riesling

This was another favorite! Excellent! And DBF doesn't like sausage very much, and he hates sauerkraut, so I got it all to myself! And I adore German Rieslings, so that was very good as well.
DSC02901.jpg

Total (for the sausage): $3.25

India
- Curried Butternut Squash Soup with Paratha Bread
- Glass of Sula Chenin Blanc

We kept passing this by, but we ended up loving it! Very creamy and good. Also, this was the first time I've had Chenin Blanc and it was fantastic! One of my favorite new wines that I tried!
DSC02902.jpg

Total (for the soup): $2.75

Mexico
- Chilaquiles - Baked Tortillas with Chicken and Cheese
- Quesadilla con Chorizo - Spicy Sausage and Cheese in a Flour Tortilla
- Glass of L.A. Cetto Chardonnay

The quesadilla was good but was lacking on the meat. There was very little. The Chilaquiles were amazing! This was DBF's favorite and this is the only thing we got twice. Wine was good.
DSC02903.jpg

Total (for the food): $7.25

Argentina
- Organic Spicy Beef Empanadas
- Grilled Beef Sirloin with Chimichurri Sauce
- Glass of Bodega Norton Torrontes
These were both very good and the Torrontes wine was another new one that I had never tried before, and I loved it! I think this was my favorite of the entire trip, although the ZOLO Torrontes (available at the Vinoteca De Los Andes wine bar right next to the Argentina kiosk) was my absolute favorite! Amazing stuff.
DSC02904.jpg

(Note: We only had one snack credit left, so we used it on the more expensive Grilled Beef Sirloin. We didn't keep track of the prices of stuff we paid for OOP because we just wanted to see how much we saved with Free Dining. So, no more prices for snacks.)
Total (for the beef): $4.00

Ireland
-Boxty Potato Pancake - with Bacon Chips and Kerrygold Garlic and Fresh Herb Butter
- Glass of Bunratty Meade Honey Wine

This was yummy. The wine was VERY sweet. I liked it, but it was almost too sweet.
DSC02905.jpg

Champagne
- Duo of Chocolate Truffles: Dark Chocolate and Malted Milk
- Glass of Moet and Chandon Nectar Imperial

The dark chocolate truffle was the best. Wish they would just give two of those. I love champagne, so this was great.
DSC02912.jpg

Spain
-Papas Con Chorizo - Potatoes and Spicy Sausage
Much better than we thought it was going to be!
DSC02914.jpg

New Zealand
- Lamb Slider - Roasted Lamb with Mustard Sauce on a toasted roll
- 2 Glasses of Villa Maria Private Bin Sauvigon Blanc

This was another favorite! And the server was really sweet and started talking to us. We only ordered one glass of wine, but he poured DBF a second! Bonus points!
DSC02918.jpg

Chile
- Tomatican con Manchego - Tomato, Corn and Garbanzo Bean Stew with Manchego
Another surprise! We really enjoyed this! More like a meal than a stew. One of DBF's favorites!
DSC02919.jpg

Dinner tonight was at Spoodles. We had a very late ADR and the restaurant was empty! It was so nice to be able to sit down and enjoy a laid back meal, although we were not very hungry after a day of eating around the world ... again! The service was great and the waitress even sat down with us to look at our F&WF guide (she hadn't gone yet). The food was also fantastic. One of our favorite meals.

Bread
The olive oil mixture they give with the bread was fantastic!
DSC02923.jpg

My Appetizer: Margherita Flatbread - with vine-ripened tomatoes, basil, fresh mozzarella cheese and balsamic vinegar reduction
This was great!
DSC02922.jpg

DBF's Appetizer: Grilled Lamb Kebabs - with chick pea salad and harissa
Very tender and went very well with the chick pea salad. We loved this.
DSC02921.jpg

My Entree: Rigatoni with mild Italian sausage, tomatoes and portobello mushrooms
OMG! I cannot say enough about this pasta dish. It was fabulous! The sauce was light and creamy and the sausage was perfect. I just wish I wasn't so full! I ended up bringing half back to the room.
DSC02924.jpg

DBF's Entree: Oak-fired Steak Kabobs - with multigrain pilaf, balsamic red onions and harissa
He loved this.
DSC02925.jpg

Dessert: Spoodles Dessert Sampler
We were so full that we only ate the gelato, which was outstanding, and brought the rest back to the room. DBF snacked on it the next day and said the rest of it was good too but I can't imagine any of it topped the gelato! Next time, I'll just get a whole bowl of that!
DSC02926.jpg

Total: $93.79

Spoodles was definitely one of our favorites, right next to Kona and Le Cellier as the best one credit restaurants!

And after all that, I think it's time for lunch! More later...

What a great job on the dining reviews, and the pictures are really making me hungry!!! Thanks for taking the time to share!!!:thanks:

We also couldn't believe how delicious the Spoodles Rigatoni was! So much flavor and such a great comforting dish. I posted on another thread that I was looking for the recipe, but no luck so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Love your report!!
I just came home and we didnt get to go to Spoodles. There is always next time:laughing:

Thanks for the reply... I can't believe the assortment of goodies!

ONe more question... How much $$ did you spend at the F&WF during your trip?? I am trying to budget for our (very quickly) upcoming trip!

Great report... Keep it up!

Thanks so much for your comments! I'm glad people are enjoying it!

As for $$ at F&WF, it is kind of hard to estimate how much you will spend. Everyone will be different depending on their personal preferences and how long they plan on spending there. For example, DBF and I both love to eat, but are not big eaters. So one serving of something was enough for both of us to share. Also, we are not big dessert people. In fact, I don't think we tried one dessert except for the chocolate truffles at the Champagne kiosk. We also had 18 snack credits from the DDP that we saved and used at the F&WF. So that is 18 different dishes that we got that we didn't have to pay for. But after using those credits, and keep in mind DBF doesn't really drink (he had maybe 3 or 4 glasses the whole time, and just tasted all of mine), we spent about $160 OOP. That includes a wine flight I did in Australia, a wine tour at The American Wine Adventure kiosk (next to Canada), some Fiesta Margaritas from Mexico (We love these!), and a bottle of Zolo Torrontes that I purchased to bring home. That is for about 3 full days of Food and Wine Festival. However, for my upcoming trip with my Mom, we will be there for 4 and a half days and we both love wine. We will also not have any snack credits, as we are not using DDP. We plan on spending the majority of our time at Epcot so we are budgeting about $500.00, $250.00 each. Hope you have a great time! I can't wait to get back myself!

Wonderful review! I really wish I could get down there for the F&W Festival, but I'm excited I'm getting to go at Christmas time!

:)

Day 10: Part One - 10/01

Lunch today was at Boulangerie Patisserie

We split a counter service because we knew we had a few more F&WF places to hit.

Meal: Ham and Cheese Quiche
Dessert: Some sort of Cream Puff
This was great. We loved the idea of getting a quiche as a counter service. Beats a burger any day! One of our new favorite counter service places! It was probably the cheapest too! The quiche was fresh and filling and the pastry was fantastic! There were so many choices, too! What a great find! :thumbsup2
DSC02932.jpg

Total: $8.46

Food & Wine Festival

Oklahoma/ Native American
-Three Sister Soup - Spicy Zucchini, Bean and Corn Chowder
-Seared Buffalo with Scalloped Wild Onions

Both of these were very good. I didn't want to try this place at first, but I am glad that I did!
DSC02933.jpg

Japan
-California Sushi Roll
I really enjoyed this. It was better than you would expect from sushi from a fridge. YUM! Plus, DBF doesn't like sushi much, so I got this one all to myself too!
DSC02934.jpg

Dominican Republic
- Pastelon de Platanos Amarillos - Ripe plantain with Vegetable Casserole topped with Avocado
Sadly, this was our least favorite F&WF tasting. I don't know what it was about it, but we just didn't care for it at all. Didn't even finish it. Looks way better than it tasted, IMHO.
DSC02938.jpg

Italy
- Pizza - Fennel Sausage, Bell Peppers, San Marzano Tomatoes and Mozzarella
We were hesitant to try this because we are from New York and are very picky about our pizza. Plus, we can get amazing pizza at any time. But this was just outstanding! I mean, really. Just very good. I could have eaten a whole pie! Don't pass this up!
DSC02935.jpg

Greece
-Spanakopita - Savory Spinach and Cheese Pastry
- Glass of Boutari Naoussa

This was on the smaller side, but still tasty. The wine was yummy, but still warm. In 90 degree weather, I'd just like my red wine chilled please!
DSC02939.jpg

And that is Day 10, Part one. Part 2 is up next with California Grill and then our last day! Hopefully, I'll post again tonight. If not, then definitely tomorrow! I know, I know.. I'm a slacker...

it all sounds really good!!!

If you want to splurge some time... go for the king crab CLAWS at Fultons... a bit pricey, but you get a dozen at least and they are SO GOOD!!!

Great reviews. You're making me so excited for F & W. Just a few more days to go! :woohoo:
I'm surprised you liked the offerings at the Italian booth, they always look bad to me and also being from NY I never like WDW Italian food. I will definitely have to give it a try this time!

Wonderful reviews and pictures. Thanks for taking the time to post.

Great reviews and awesome pictures!! :thumbsup2
