Day 2
Tuesday December 2
Who: Me - Tink (female 49)
+ 5 yo GRANDSON
When: December 1-6
Resort: Polynesian
Today's Event: MVMCP
Whew! Now on to see the mouse!
I wake up at 6:00 AM to the sounds of our very loud next door neighbors. One of their three children in particular (Amanda -- yes, that's how clearly I could hear them) was non-stop yelling and screaming. Every 5 seconds she would scream "Uppy! Uppy! Uppy!" When mom and dad didn't come and get her, she would cry and scream "UPPY!!! UPPY!!! UPPY!!!" But when they let her out of her crib or wherever she was, that's when the fireworks really started. The adults were loud too. The dad didn't speak, he growled. He would make a good Papa Bear over at the Wilderness Lodge. This goes on for an hour and a half, but nothing was going to bother me today since I will not be spending it in the emergency room. I am hoping they do not wake up DGS, who needs his sleep after his ordeal the day before.
Tonight is MVMCP, with PS at LTT. I have no idea at this point if we will be able to attend. Last year's party got rained out, so I am really hoping DGS will feel well enough to go, weather providing. We will play it by ear. DGS wakes up, he seems a lot better. Those antibiotics sure work like a charm. We need to wait around for his meds to be delivered. The hosptial also instructed me to buy some Motrin and a decongestant. For future reference, Turner Drugs will deliver these types of drugs along with your prescriptions.
We have breakfast at Captain Cooks. After the meds arrive and were safely stored in our in-room fridge, we decide to take a quick trip to the Magic Kingdom. That first monorail ride from the Polynesian to MK is always the best. We know we are really on our way to MK when we hear the infamous "Por favor mantenga alejado de las puertas" monorail announcement and for a moment, our ordeal of yesterday is forgotten and all is right with the world.
Pal Mickey escorts us to MK. We rent a stroller. DGS does not want to use it. How can you be cool in a stroller? I insist because he needs to take it easy. What a thrill it is to be back on Main Street! The sights and sounds are as magical as ever. And there is the castle up ahead. What a magnificent spectacle of wonder. Ah, but we must detour over to First Aid/Baby Care for the Motrin and decongestant. I didn't know I could have purchased this at the Polynesian.
We were here last year at the same time, the first week of December, but it is more crowded this year. I'm not sure why. We ride the Transit Authority and laugh when they page Mr Tom Morrow. It's great to be back!
I decide we will not stay for the parade in order to rest up at the resort before MVMCP. We will be able to see the Christmas parade at the party anyway and I am still playing all this by ear. Will DGS be well enough to go to the party? He sure seems fine and happy and will have had 24 hours of antibiotic in him at work. We hop the monorail back to the Polynesian. We grab a bite at Captain Cooks and head back to the room to watch TV, veg out, and rest up for tonight.
It's time to catch our PS at LTT at 5:05. We make it just in time. We have a scrumptuous Thanksgiving style dinner. DGS is visited by Minnie, Pluto, Chip, Dale, and Miko. He is thrilled! We enjoyed this dinner last year as well.
Party time! It's very dark at MK. I can't figure out where to have our pics taken and DGS doesn't feel like waiting in line once we find it later on, so unfortunately, we didn't get to have MVMCP pics this year either. We head over to Tomorrowland to see the Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas show. Don't miss it! Great show! Very crowded show at 6:15 pm. We had to stand. DGS couldn't see so I had to hold him during most of it, but it was dazzling!
I am trying out a new contact lense prescription and find the MVMCP maps very hard to read as far as photos and hot chocolate. It's so very dark outside. We finally find the hot chocolate and cookies. The line is long, but darn it, we missed it last year and I didn't want to miss it this year. Let me warn all of you now about the hot chocolate. It is piping hot! DGS could not drink it and I was tired of carrying it waiting for it to cool down. He lost interest in it, so I threw his out. Many people were dumping half the hot chocolate in the water fountains and filling it with cold water. There was no other way you could drink it. So what ever you do, do not hand it to a small child right away. Those lids are deceiving. It is dangerously hot under there. It is delicious though. DGS got a sugured Christmas tree cookie and I wrap up my angel cookie and save it for my teenage daughter since I still felt guilty for not taking her to WDW with us this time (she has a heavy load of honors classes and cannot miss school).
It sure is crowded trying to find a place to watch the Christmas parade, but boy, was it worth it. It is an absolutely gorgeous parade. Not to be missed. I love the Chip and Dale baking float and the gingerbread men and house. DGS loves the army guys from Toy Story. I cannot say enough good things about this parade - Disney at its best and heavy doses of Christmas spirit for all.
We stay for the Wishes fireworks. What a beautiful sight! Not to be missed! Breathtaking! The snow on Main Street was a big hit --one of DGS's favorite things. He would try to catch the suds before it landed. I was so happy to finally see snow on Main Street, especially since we were rained out last year and missed it. There is nothing quite like it. *sniff sniff*
Even though it was still early by MVMCP standards, I did not want to take any chances on DGS having a relapse, so we head back to the Polynesian right after the fireworks. What a magical Day this was! We get ready for bed, get into our Disney jammies - the ones we had saved for this trip - and collapse in the happiest place on earth, Walt Disney World.
