Considering how long we had waited for this day to arrive, we didn’t wake up until 7am. Em was incredibly excited and just wanted to get on with the day, so we had leisurely showers and then trekked to breakfast which was near the front desk. The breakfast was buffet style and was very good. I told Em to stock up as the food on Virgin is not brilliant.
We left the hotel at around 10am and walked over to the terminal where we did bag drop, which took 5 mins, so not long. We were in PE and I tried to upgrade but the flight was full, but at least we had seats in the bubble at the back.
The plane took off about 30 mins late which we easily made up on-route. The flight was, as usual boring and long with the food being just about adequate. The stewardesses were lovely and nothing was too much trouble for them. There were no games and only 8 films. This really bugs me as the Orlando route has lots of children on that would be kept occupied by games, but it has the oldest planes. They are old and tired and I for one cannot wait for them to be replaced. Anyway, rant over, we arrived at MCO and got through immigration in 5 mins. Our immigration guy was friendly and we were processed in a couple of mins. Our cases took about 5 mins and we were out of the airport in 20 mins total, which is a bit of a record.
I had hired a stretch limo through Tiffany Town Cars and it was not waiting for us as we had got there so early. I called the company and within 10 mins it was there. I had arranged this as a surprise for Em and she was shocked to have a stretch limo for just the two of us. Needless to say after taking video and pics, we were on our way to the Royal Pacific at Universal.
The drive took about 40 mins as traffic was heavy, but we enjoyed it. In no time at all we were standing in the lobby checking into our Concierge level room and collecting our Harry Potter package tickets.
We had our first blond moment of the trip when we couldn’t figure out how to get the lift to take us to the concierge level rooms, quite easy really, you just insert your room key and then press the floor number, but it took Em and I a few mins to suss this out.
Our room was fabulous, large and very clean. We could not see our view as it was very dark so would have to wait until the morning to see it. Anyway, eager to explore and have dinner we quickly changed out of our travelling clothes, into something more casual and lighter.
We walked around the hotel and then had dinner at Bula Bar and Grill. We both had cheeseburgers, with me having a beer and Em had a chocolate milkshake, our first taste of American food did not let us down as we loved it in here, the food was really tasty and the staff were great fun.
We then went into the Concierge level lounge and got some cookies, just in-case we woke up at a ridiculous hour the next morning.
We went back to our room and were in bed by 10pm, absolutely shattered.
