Both of my daughters will be in college in Jan of 20 and they get almost a month off in between semesters. This will only happen once as the older one will then move onto a 4 year the next year and they will have different breaks. My question is we were thinking about taking advantage of that time and going during what would hopefully be somewhat of a downtime. I have looked on the calendar and based on when my kids normal xmas breaks are for high school right now (that year isn't out yet) I am thinking that most schools will be headed back by the 2nd week of Jan. We were thinking of flying on the 6th of Jan and having our first park day be on the 7th. I know MLK is in Jan but luckily that year it is later and on the 22nd not the 15th like it sometimes falls. So my question is, is there anything big that happens on that in between week? Right after the holidays but before MLK? Any marathons or conventions that might impact that week? TIA

The WDW Marathon events are held the second weekend of January.

Oh and the first official weekend of Jan that year is the 4th and 5th. We would fly in on Monday the 6th and our first park day would be Tues the 7th. So is the marathon on that 2nd weekend the 11th and 12th? And would people be there I'm assuming on the Fri and Mon? I am just trying to figure out how much it would impact the entire resort. Are the marathons in more than one park? So could we possibly do MK first and avoid that one or wherever the marathon is?

We were there that weekend in 2013 and didn’t think the crowds were bad. We were at AKL and the buses weren’t crowded.

@rteetz has been running the events the past few years, he will have more info. :)

great thanks

WDW marathon weekend is Jan 9-13th.

I would likely avoid MK on Jan 11-12 in the early morning due to traffic. Other than that you should be okay. Epcot is the finish for each race so that could be an issue too.

Great thanks for the info. I will try to do the other parks those days.
