Timing for Rose and Crown ADR to view Illuminations

I've booked an ADR at Rose and Crown for 6.50 (it was the latest I could get). I now see that illuminations that night is going to be at 9.30.

This is our first trip to disney and I'm unsure of timings. I'm assuming 6.50 is too early to stay and see illuminations from the patio like I was planning.

Can anyone tell me the earliest ADR I could reasonably book and still stay for illuminations?

That will help with knowing what time to try and get a cancellation for.

Thanks

We've done 7:15 and it was perfect for a nice leisurely meal. 6:50 is early but might work. I would let them know you want fireworks viewing up front.

With a 9:30 Illuminations, I'd be looking for a 7:30ish ADR.

However, there are only a few tables outside on the patio, and there are times they will not let you wait for one no matter how long you're willing to wait. If you're seated inside, they have a private standing area for Illuminations viewing too. Even if you're not finished with your meal, you can go watch and then come back inside, so any ADR after 7:30 would still be good.

We have stayed there for 2 hours before enjoying a slow dinner with drinks with appetizers but 6:50 might be pushing it a bit. I agree with others that if you could get between 7:15 - 7:30 then you would be set.

The other option is playing the clock game....They hold your reservation for 10 minutes past the reserved time so if your reservation is for 6:50 then try to arrive between 6:55 and 7:00. You probably won't get seated until closer to 7:15 anyhow. So, the 6:50 might (and I mean very might) work.

They really cancel your reservation after 10 minutes?

Yes....especially if they are really busy and depending on the restaurant....'Ohana, IllumiNation viewing restaurants, during Christmas week, California Grill, etc...

They definitely can and depending on how busy it is they may
For a 9:30 Illuminations I would try for a 7:45 ADR.

Okay thanks -- that's definitely good to keep in mind.

We got an 8pm ADR for the 9p fireworks. It worked great. I asked for a patio table when we checked in and was told maybe and was told if there wasn't one available we could go to the VIP area to watch them. We waited about 10 mins and had a patio table. We were asked if we were staying for the show and we said yes. No rush to leave and the view was amazing along with the food. It was a great night. I got my ADR on 6-11 for a 6-19 night.

Thanks for all the feedback really appreciated. I will keep my eye out for something around 730 then.

Is there still an area at rose and crown separate to the patio for viewing? I’ve read on other threads about a vip viewing area in rose and crown.

Could I go there and wait (if I can’t change my time) even if we have finished our meal? Is this as good a view as the patio?

There is a VIP area for R&C guests. Just drag your meal out if it looks like you'll be finished too soon. Tell your server at the beginning of your meal that you're wanting to see Illuminations from their patio and you're in no hurry.

Patio view is pretty much the same as the VIP area, but you're sitting on the patio and standing in the area.

We didn't have luck getting a good table for Illuminations. Pretty sure our reservation was for 7PM. The funny thing is they left the front area tables with good fireworks viewing completely empty and I heard a couple people request them when we were checking in. Didn't matter much to us, because we got a great view after dinner in the lower seating area that is behind the R&C checkin desk.
