When is the best time to plan a PS for dinner for the Fantasmic Dinner package. During our trip, Fantasmic will be at 7pm. Should we plan to eat around 4:30pm. Will this allow us to see more before lining up??
Any suggestions? What do all of you experienced DISers do?

The times for the dinner package are preset, you don't get to pick any PS time you want. We called to book the package for 4/24 and the latest time available was 3:40pm. The CM told us to call back when the park hours for April were released and there would probably be later times, but her guess was that 4:50 would be the latest. We didn't get a chance to call today, but we'll be calling tomorrow and since Fantasmic is at 8:30 that night, I'm hoping we'll get a later time that we have.

The dinner packages are usually earlier anyway I believe. Ours is for 4:30 and last time I don't think it was 5:00. I think they do this to avoid the rush at 6:00. Plus this will give you time to check out the park as everyone is either in line for it or eating. We're doing it again in a few weeks! :sunny:

Oh and you will do not need to line up - you just go in the back gate about 1/2 hour before and basically get to find a seat and wait.

I just called a couple of days ago, and got a PS for H&V dinner package for 5:00 Feb 26. I am wondering if I should call to reconfirm because I keep reading that the latest seating is usually 4:30. The CM did take my cc#, so I'm assuming she understood that I wanted the F! package??

5 could be right, the latest time seems to change depending on what time Fantasmic is. Though you might want to check and here's why. We did the FDP on 12/29/02, booked it about a month or so in advance, and our time was 4:45. There were 3 Fantasmics that night, 6:30, 8, and 10, and having never done the FDP before we had no idea that the FDP was for the 1st Fantasmic only. So we got to BD at 4:40 and they couldn't find our PS. They searched their computer and found out that it had been moved to 3:55 and that they called our home on 12/27 to notify us that the time had been changed because that was the latest PS for the FDP. Well we were in WDW on 12/27 so we obviously never got that message (though we told them we were staying at AKL when we booked, so if they weeren't going to use that info why did they ask!?!). They told us we could either eat quickly and go to the 6pm show or take the FDP the next night. Well we had PSs for every night since it was around NYE and very crowded, so our only choice was to eat quickly or miss out on the package, and with the NYE crowds there was no way we'd even had seen the 10pm show without lining up well in advance, and it was way too chilly to stand in line for hours. They didn't seat us till 5:15, so we really had to rush through our meal to make it in time for the show. They had a CM waiting for us at the FDP entrance and she wasn't letting others in the reserved section till we got there. We got horrible seats and a horrible meal since we were so rushed, plus we had to literally run to the theatre after we had just eaten.

So check what time Fantasmic is when you go, and also keep in mind how long it will take to be seated, eat, walk to the theatre and go from there.

justhat, thanks for sharing your experience. F! is scheduled for 7:00 that night. After reading your post, I think I will call to confirm just to make sure.

No problem Lucy. I know it was a long story, but we've been very careful since then to make sure it doesn't happen again. When you're paying $37+tax/person, who wants to be rushed through their meal and have to run to a show?
