timing for dvc rentals?

How far in advance can you make reservations using rented dvc points? Want to start planning trip for 2013 and not sure how far ahead i can make them. I was hoping for a year in advance since it would be easiest to pay for it when I get my tax return

DVC ressies, at DVC resorts can be made at an owner's home resort 11 months in advance.

At an owners non home resort, at 7 months.

You may want to contact someone a few weeks in advance of when you need the reservation so that you can find someone you feel comfortable dealing with and can get all your info to them and make sure you know what their rules are for renting as each individual can have slightly different payment options etc. I think your plan is a good one in that you can get the room paid for, get the resort you want and then work on the rest of the trip from there. As someone who rents points on occasion, I would love to work with someone like you who is planning in advance. It is a lot more time consuming to rent points when you are working with people who want a reservation within a few months because so much is already booked. Good luck!
