I think you get 30 or 60 days to buy he annual pass at the renewal rate. Do you have to activate it immeadiately or could you wait a few months?

The issue with a renewal is this.

My pass expires December 8, 2015. When I renew it, no matter when i renew it, I can wait to activate it until July if I want (you can only activate it when you are at WDW). But the renewed pass will still expire December 8, 2016. So if you are going to wait a long time before you activate it, you might be better off letting it expire and purchasing a new pass when you go back. It'll depend on how many days you intend to use it between activation and expiration.

GREAT explanation of the AP "Renewal Anniversary Date". YES - there are years when one may simply wish to get a brand NEW AP, depending on that year's travel habits :).

Yep....I struggled with this too. I wanted to renew ours that expired June 1 at the renewal rate but since we are not planning on going back until September we decided to wait. Looks like we will need them for mid June next year anyway. Will get 3, most likely 4 trips on them.
