Has anybody done any of the Orlando timeshare sales deals? I am looking to get down there for a few days and a friend told me he goes often, and all he has to do is sit through a short sales pitch? What are the best ones and which ones are too pushy? Is there a website where you can find opportunities for this?

I would not wish one of these on my worst enemies. It will burn about 3 hours plus travel time (so an entire half-day of your vacation) and in exchange give you about $75 or so.

My time is worth a lot more than that---especially when I'm on vacation.

My Uncle goes to these and loves them. However, he is 74 years old and does not mega tour while we are there. Since is older and widowed the salespeople don't keep him forever.

I would not go I don't care what the gift is. Since I am in my 40's and married they would make both my husband and I go. We have kids so they would be misserable. The salespeople would see us as a potential sale so I'm sure would drive us nuts. We like to mega tour so this would be a wasted day. I figure if they give us $100 that is divided by 4 of our family comes to $25 each if they waste 3 hours it is like $8 hour. So not worth it.

Don't do it unless you are like my uncle.

Are you are looking for the ones where they put you up for a couple of nights and give you park tickets? If so make sure you read the fine print, because many times they will put you up in a hotel and you just get to tour the resort. Many timeshare companies have stopped doing these deals, because they weren't getting a return on their buck (people coming in this way were not buying). However, I do think Marriott is still doing these, because they called me a few days ago with an offer.

Something else to consider - sales staff at the resorts have been downsized--leaving only the best sales people (the really agressive ones).

Beware...these are not 'short' presentations, and they are very high pressure. With the recession, the salespeople and their managers have only gotten hungrier. If you decide to do it, here are some ways to prepare yourself and some strategies for when you are there: http://bit.ly/t9saB

Granted, you can get some freebies, but they're not really free in terms of the time spent and the stress of being subjected to one of the highest pressure pitches you'll ever encounter.

We are doing one of the presentations. I am not easily worn down so I can take the pressure. I have done them before, and you just have to laugh at how hard they try to push. Problem is I push right back once we are arrived at our ending time.

This is the first time, I have done one that will include my hotel. I got a package for like $199. It includes a stay at the Buena Vista Suites (I called to verify my ressie), and I have Disney Touch of magic tickets (2 - 2 day plus waterpark). I paid $135 extra for an extra ticket. That is for 4 days 3 nights.

We have to preview the Sheraton Vistana. I have herad that they are pretty tough but I can handle it as we had no plans on the first full day we are there.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions, you can just PM me. :thumbsup2

we have done Marriott and would do them again. Very low pressure and got a great rate on the room. I wouldn't do most of the other ones because I have heard they can be really rough!

Don't go the pressure is awful. I had a sales women who started to cry when she realized we weren't buying. It was sad, she ask if we could leave atleast a $10.00 deposit. I felt so sorry for her I gave it to her. I learned it's all part of the game. Never again!!

Stayed at Orange Lake a few weeks ago and went to the presention. It was very low pressure, a little more than an hour, and we got passes for Disney around $100 lower then what we seen plus $60 for a food credit at one of the restaurants at the resort.

You actually PAID $10 to take in a high-pressure sales pitch? That's just shameless on the part of the saleswoman. How incredibly low!

You're absolutely right to say never again. There are some relatively low pressure timeshare sales tours - generally the higher end systems like Disney, Marriott, the Royals in Cancun, and a few others. But, for me, that's just not an activity that worth taking time away from my vacation.

Timeshare tours: JUST SAY NO!

We did these when we were young and could barely afford to travel. Now I can't be bothered attending a sales pitch about anything. (I also stopped wasting my time attending 'demonstrations' at home. If I want something, I go shop for it.)
My vacay time is precious and wouldn't waste it for a token gift. Most importantly, this is not how I'd buy a car, house, or any large purchase.
I do own a timeshare but didn't buy in this crazy, high pressure manner. I like it but it's not for everyone. I feel sad for people who got roped into something they really don't want.
