Timeshare Presentation - OLCC

We hopefully will be renting from someone at OLCC. When arriving do they offer you a timeshare presentation. If so, what do they give you?

We went to OLCC in Febrary 2004 and they offered us a timeshare presentation, calling us a few times leaving messages and offering free breakfast and two rounds of golf for my dh and my dad. That was it. We had the breakfast, while the fellow sat at our table (which made for a kind of rushed breakfast as I was dealing with an almost 3 yr old and an 8 mos old). Then we did the presentation and it went on and on. We were interested and of course were listening to him, and then they kept lowering a price to buy and were quite persistent. I finally said we HAVE to go because my baby needed to nurse and was not happy!!!

So they offered us the latitudes program (about $1000) to come back for a week in the next two years and try them again and they will "hold" the price (which in some respects now I wish we hadn't agreed to, but at that time we had never rented a pool home so we didnt' know that we could get better rates than that) So we are going back in March and have agreed to another timeshare pres'n, but this time my parents are going swimming with the kids. We know we have no intention of buying as we just can't afford it ... plus I would buy resale if I was actually in the market! Now this time we have been offered ... two rounds of 18 holes with cart, two universal tickets, two medieval show tickets, pass to their water park (which isn't up and running), mini golf family pass, and two towels. (and yes the towels were the clincher for me ).

So needless to say ... they don't offer much the first time around ... maybe if we'd asked, but we didn't know much then!

Good luck ... it is a beautiful resort. If I'd won the super 7 the other night (a lottery here in Canada), I would most definitely buy a few weeks ... unfortunately that didn't happen!

They definately don't offer as much as other resorts. I don't understand what you mean by pass to water park, I thought that was included in the rental or owning.

considering that OLCC can be booked for under 500$ for a two bedroom...

.the 1000$ latitudes package should be adding all those perks ....

Where can you find it under 500.00 for a 2 bedroom? I been searching for weeks and haven't found anything near that price.

Yes lawgs ... we know that now ... were fairly new at all this two years ago When we were there the first time we got it through a co-worker who exchanged for us. It cost us $700 Canadian as she had to pay the exchange fee (around 500-600 us) ... so we didn't think at that time that paying 1000 US was bad as you could pay it in 15 equal payments and use it within two years. It sounded good then. Now I would like to be at a pool home as we did that last year and enjoyed having our own pool and keeping the kids on a fairly "normal" schedule. We live and learn

I don't know about that water pass thing either. It was something they listed as a "perk" for when we returned and listened to the timeshare again. She had said we would have a one week water mania family pass (value 110 ... i'm sure they make this up). So at that time I assumed that it was something you had to pay for unless you were an owner (which we aren't). But this water park isn't even open, so I don't know if they will subsitute anything for us ... I'm not sure they will do anything like that when they know you aren't buying. I think they turn into "not so nice people" then !!! (As long as my dad gets his 18 holes of golf with the cart, it will be ok )

that would be in the EV section of RCI ...too bad ....you do not have a friend who is a member of RCI...

depending on the date you are going.....they seem to have a lot of OLCC inventory

Well ... thank you for letting me know this!! I had no idea When we did the presentation they went on and on about this new water park they were building at OLCC (which they are). They told us that we would get a family pass to this water park in OL for the week. Now that I look at the list they typed up, it does say a family water mania pass. So obviously we were lied to . I had no idea what their water park was going to be called, so I assumed that was it. I had no idea there WAS such a place called Water Mania ... boy do I feel stupid now When did this place close? Would they have known when we signed the agreement?

So what should I do? We have to go to the timeshare presentation when we go to OLCC, as it is in the agreement when you sign up for Latitudes. Do you think they would substitute? They have said two adult passes to Universal, do you think they would give us two extra? I am not holding my breath here or anything Obviously they won't be getting a sale for sure

if the orange lake water park was open you would have access to it...


but it would definately be worthwhile for you to ask what they are substituting for the "family pass to Water Mania".....you should have some wiggle room....but probably not the two extra Universal....but then again it would not hurt to try since they said the water mania package had a retail value of 110$

I read somewhere that OLCC also gives you a good coupon book (OLCC coupons). I believe it was also reccommended that you should do the presentation near the beginning of your OLCC vacation in order to be able to use some of the coupons during the remainder of the week.

OT - Anyone know if it is possible to get one of these coupon booklets without having to attend a timeshare presentation?

Because anytime we are at Universal or running into the seven-eleven, Their booking agents are always outside promising anywhere from 80-100 dollars for doing thier tours. So I guess the trade off of staying there is getting a good rate as oppose to us taking the tour off property.

we own at OLCC - 2 two week stretches that we bought years and years ago. We go to the presentation everytime that we go down and we try to go early into our vacation so as to get the coupon book. It has coupons for Beef O'Bradys, and for the restaurants there at OL, it also has some golf coupons, and such. There is one coupon for a free appetizer at the Legends (I Think)...it also has a coupon for their buffet on limited nights - so it works for us. I don't think I have a book here...so I can't check. I have gotten books from people that were leaving and didn't use theirs.
They do give us breakfast or lunch...depending on the time you meet with them. Over the years we have has some very very nice salespeople...and then have had others that were absolute jerks. They do try to put pressure on you...but if you knew my husband...you'd know in a heartbeat that that was just the WRONG approach
It was easy to get out of the "meeting" when our children were small...( one of them was always pitching a fit after an hour!!) and now we just say that we have to pick someone up from the airport. We do the meeting to be able to find out what's new and available. We are thinking about buying another week...but if we do - we'll do it through a different avenue. They have never made us an offer that was "too good to pass up" - we love our units and our weeks, so it's hard for us to switch. We do love OLCC and wouldn't leave it for anything!!! I would agree with lawgs that you should ask for another family water park ticket as it was, I'm gathering, part of the agreement to entice the purchase of the lattitude package. I think Water Mania was the least expensive of the water parks in Orlando as many people claim that Wet-N-Wide is better than Disney's water parks. You have nothing to lose by pressing the issue (nicely of course).

Last year Sheraton Vistana gave us 100.00 - now that was worth my time.

When we bought into the latitudes package last March we were given $50 US for attending the presentation. As Kerri Mc says it was not the smartest thing we have ever done, but when you're immersed in their world it's hard to pass up. We, too, are taking our parents, and paying over a few months was also appealing. I did call OLCC to ask about Water Mania, and according to the lady I spoke with they are making up the dollar value in OLCC paraphanalia - more beach towels, cups, shirts, whatever. All I can say is this combined with the still unopened on-site water park area are good reasons to say no to purchasing.
