Has anyone been able to exchange timeshare with II for Disney deluxe resort?

There is a 1 BR at Disney's Old Key West Resort from 9/11 thru 9/18, 2004 sitting online w/II right now that I could exchange my timeshare for. I've also seen Beach Club Villas, Wilderness Lodge and Boardwalk Villas. FWIW, very few exchanges come through II and if a couple happen to be online they don't last long.

If you really want to stay onsite, your best bet would be to rent points from an owner.

I posted a similar question on the DVC board about a week ago. I have been searching for a few weeks through II with a week that my sister-in-law won't be using, so we are trying to use it for our trip in June. In the few weeks I have dilligently been searching for trades through Interval, I have seen probably a dozen or so DVC properties. The 1-bedroom units were all at OKW and I saw about 3 efficiencies for VWL, 2 for BWV and a handful at OKW. I saw one 2-bedroom at OKW. Last Mon and Tues I saw a 1-bed at OKW for the early June dates we needed. I should have snatched one up but I hesitated and they were gone by mid-morning. The posters who answered my question said they never failed to get a DVC property, but they were flexble about dates. They were obtained either through request or instant confirmation through the database. I was also told that if you are willing to wait within the 60-day booking window, you might have a better chance. But there are no guarantees so the other poster is correct about renting points from an owner, especially if you want a 2-bedroom unit or a unit somewhere other than OKW or during a prime time like Easter, Summer or Christmas. I will probably try for a DVC for a week or two more, then if I am unsuccessful, I will settle for a Marriott property.

We tried also to get a DVC through an II exchange, but nothing showed up for when we wanted to go (last week of October 2004). I was afraid to wait too long to book something else because I didn't know how soon Marriott's Grande Vista 2 bedroom unit would last. Anyway, we let our request sit with II for about 5 months and nothing showed so we book MGV. Good luck.

Just this morning I booked a 1-bedroom at Old Key West for June 5-12 through an Interval Exchange. I was trying to hold out for the very rare 2-bedroom but just decided to go for it. I have noticed that the two Marriott Grande Vista 2-bedrooms for the time period I need have not been taken for the 3 or so weeks that I have been searching. Seems that the Disney owned, Grande Vista 3-bedrooms and Marriott Horizons are the ones I notice being snatched up right away.

Good luck and I wish you patience!

Thanks for all your help. I will continue to try and wait, hopefully something will come up.

I thought if you own in Orlando, II won't let you exchange to Orlando? Is this true? Just mentioning this in case you own in Orlando.

Hi there -I own at Vistana in Orlando and while I remember hearing something like what Mjasp said, when I go onto II's website and try to exchange my week for another property in Orlando I do get availability (but nothing Disney....not sure if this is due to time frame or what).

I would just say keep trying, cuz things seem to change every minute! Good luck!
