Timeliness of Disney Files

First, let me wish everyone a happy New Year!

On December 31, I received the Winter issue of Disney Files. The magazine seems to be coming a little late considering the information contained therein relates to events during November and December at the parks as well as the November movie release of Tangled. My DW called member services concerning its timeliness and their response was that it was a result of the postal service. Since all of our other periodicals are timely, I don't think that is the cause. Is anyone else receiving the magazine this late?

:) The DVC Vacation Planner is also produced by a division of whoever does the Files magazine... we still haven't gotten the planner. I don't think it has anything to do with USPS.

I flipped through it quickly and then cut it up for my scrapbooking. I get more timely info here. :thumbsup2

Disney Files comes out of Georgia, if I recall correctly , and anything by mail from Disney takes forever to get out. I don't think the fault belongs to the Postal Service. The "news" is always late, even if you get it timely. It's a rather poor publication over all.

It could be a better publication if it stopped with the dated events/things about WDW and Disney in general and concentrated on the DVC resorts.

I think they have a high school class editing Disney Files as a class project. The editor usually acts like he might be a junior.

I think the Mickey Monitor could come out in a more timely manner as well. Thank heavens for the internet!:goodvibes

I don't care when the Disney Files comes. There's rarely anything worthwhile in there. It's a "perk" I could do without.

Seriously, why is this something we can't ask to get by email? I still haven't received my first one but closed in November.

It's the same with the Disneyland AP newsletter/magazine. They were constantly sending things out after they happened, or just before it happened (no time to use the codes).

There are links to them on dvcmember.com.

It is in the member portal, if you want to read it online. It's just as bad no matter where you read it, though.

I agree. The Disney Files didn't phase me after being an AP holder for 15+ years. Whenever I get the Mickey Monitor most of the stuff there has been OTBE. And don't get me started on the passholder website...I mean, how hard is it to keep that updated. They generally have things that have expired on it for longer than they need to.

Disney Files holds no value for me at all, early or late. I wish I could "opt out".

I wouldn't miss it either. If I could opt out I would if they take the $50 off my dues per year.

Try living overseas and receiving the tripe that passes for "Disney Files". It always arrives at least a season behind and is a complete and utter waste of paper.

I guess I'm the only one that looks forward to Disney Files HAHA

I really like reading it - but I do agree it comes a little late sometimes!

Another vote here for no Disney Files...

Wishing there was more DVC "news" and less cutesy monologues and journalistic advertising for other Disney products.

I too enjoyed Vacation Magic! A simple newsletter with official DVC updates would do for me.

On another topic -

Did anyone else notice that in the new Planner, there were minimal pics of actual DVC resorts? Many photos from around the world, both WDW and the Earth, but little in relation to the resorts for which most of us will be using our DVC points.

I did, actually... but to be honest, the planner is something else I could do without. When I need to look up points, it's faster to head online than look around for my planner. And there are so many DVC calculators that let you just plug in your planned dates and figure out how many points you'll need anyway... it just seems to wasteful to me.

I know some people need them. The majority of us don't. I think they should print a black-and-white pamphlet each year of just the points charts for people who don't want to go paperless. Everyone else can get this info elsewhere, usually long before Disney ever bothers to send it out in the mail.
