thanks
I was wondering because
at the meeting with our college reps
the college rep who went down for Fall 08 and just got back said they had her fill out some sort of compatibility type test.
This is exactly why when any alum says "this is the way it is" with a grain of salt. So many things change with the program and very few of us make any attempt to keep up with the changes. And even then, it is quite difficult to do. Be sure to always check with an official resource and don't believe anything that we say as fact.
They did do some sort of compatibility thing when they first started the matching program. It just didn't work because the pool of people was so small after grouping them on the basic criteria that they couldn't make reasonable matches. From what I understand, they didn't ask very many questions either. One of them I think was if you were a day or night person. Well, that would make sense on a college campus, but at Disney it doesn't make a difference because of the various work schedules. Night people may get opening shifts and not stay up late. Morning people may get closing shifts and stay up all night after they get home.
Here is just an example that may help you understand this. Say 500 people arrive on a day. Half are males. Half are females. Then half of those are over 21 and the other under.
From 500 people checking in, you really have about 125 potential pairings with each age/sex group.
Then not everyone participates. Let's say only 40% want to be paired. That gives you 50 people.
That is a really small number of people to try to find a good match with using a personality profile. Sure there would probably be a few with a high match, but for the most part, you would only get a small compatibility percentage.
If they only had one arrival date for each program, then the pools would be much larger and they could probably use a profile to some degree. But only having one arrival date would be a total nightmare for those checking in and housing and recruiting.
