My husband has PTSD so we will be getting a guest assistance card to help us tour the parks. My question is, with the card how much time should I give us to tour the parks? I don't want to buy more days than we need. Its just my husband and I. TIA!

if you did not complete everything you wanted to in both parks on the first day,
go to guest services before the end of the day to add a second day to the present ticket.
(start with a one day PtP ticket and upgrade to add another day)

a lot depends on the date you are going to the parks if you can do all the highlights in one day.

if the lines are long for a ride, the TM will write a return time on your card for you to return then.

if the lines are short, the TM can allow you to enter thru the express line.

i use the express lines at the parks.
there have been some days i have had a short 10 minute wait and times i have had a 30 minute wait.

there are a few lines that do not have express lines.

We are going in July and purchasing military tickets in advanced so I don't think our tickets will allow us to add days on at military price?

i don't know how the military tickets work.

i do know tickets from UT and other sellers can be upgraded but it is not bridged.

call or send an email to universal guest services and ask them if military tickets can be upgraded.
include your phone number if you send an email and they sometimes contact you by phone then.

July will have the crowds, especially with HP 2 opening this summer.
it might be a better choice to get the 2 day PtP tickets when you do buy.

While it is true that a few rides do not have an express line, they do have a GAC line for all rides, not sure about Ollivanders as we haven't ever tried. But Forbidden Journeys, they will write in a wait time if the posted time is more than 30 minutes, then when you reach that return time, they bring you through a seperate line, sometimes the castle tour line, sometimes through a line that runs next to the standard and single rider. Either way, once we came back for our return time, we have never waited for more than 15 minutes total, which is pretty much walking on, as it takes about 10 minutes to walk the line.
