Time to Leave Contemporary for Rope Drop?

Hi,

We're going to Disney in 9 days. Can't believe it's here.. We are staying at the Contemporary and will be going with our 4 year old. We're aiming to get to rope drop at MK (one day at 9 AM, one day for EMH at 8 AM), and to HS at 9:00 AM. What time would you recommend leaving the resort, and how would you travel?


Also, somewhat related -- we're going with a 4 year old and so going back mid-day for naps. On one of the days, we're going to try to make it back for the Festival of Fantasy parade. What time should we try to head back, and where should we try to stand? Does it make sense for one adult to go back early to get space?

The resorts board will give you some more information, specific to the hotel and resort, (there is a huge contemporary thread). You need to be at MK rope drop (in the courtyard) about 30 minutes in advance to catch the show from a good spot. It takes about 12-15 minutes to walk from the Contemporary. Bus use is more of a mix bag and dependent on many factors, including wheel chairs on and off. Always plan 45-60 minutes by bus.

It's a five minute walk even with a toddler. If you want to be toward the front of the initial surge leave between 8:05 and 8:10. If you are just looking for a comfortable place to watch the opening show add 15-20 minutes.

We stayed at the Contemporary when we first took our son who was a few months younger than yours. It's convenient for getting back for naps and getting to the hotel right after the parade or the fireworks when the crowds are leaving the park.

I'd walk and I'd be there by 8:30 if you don't care about being in the front of the crowd.
