time to go from place to place

We are going to WDW in early December along with 2 other families. It will be our first trip and since there is so much to see and do I need to rely on some of you pros to help me out here. We are planning on Friday to go to the Wild Animal Kingdom and over to the Grand Floridian for the character dinner. I'm looking at making a ps for 6:00 so I assume that we should be there by 5:30. Can you give me an idea about how long it will take us to get from the park over to the Grand Floridian?

In this year's Unofficial Guide (and I hope it's not proprietary information or plagiarism, because I don't want to get into trouble trying to help someone and only thinking I would give a little free advertising to a book I recommend) it says in the chart on pages 320-321, that a best case/ worst case range for going from the GF to AK is 16-19 minutes by your own car or 16-36 minutes by Disney bus. I'm guessing the times to go the other way would be the same. Waiting time is included. Hope this helps.

If someone has first-hand experience that differs from the above, please correct me on this. I'm certainly no pro... not even a seasoned amateur!

If driving, don't forget toadd walking time to your car in the parking lots
