I am plotting out our days as our fast pass window is approaching -- yea!!!

One of the days we want to hit Epcot and go to France for our breakfast. After a leisurely breakfast we plan on heading out of the international gateway and want to just catch a boat for a nice ride over to HS. In my touring plans I am allotting an hour to go from IG to HS by boat -I am guessing the boats make some stops along the way. I am not familiar with the boats so will it be just one boat we can take directly to HS or will we have to hop off at a point and grab another boat? I really have no clue as i have never used them.

So is my hour reasonable? or not enough time?

I usually try to over estimate things so that we are not rushing or late for anything.

Any thoughts?

You stay on the same boat, which makes 3 stops before getting to the DHS dock.

Once you have boarded the boat and are underway...
Figure that total trip time will be 25-30 min.
(It will be very close to this time, including the 3 interim stops.)
If you "just miss" a boat, another should arrive within about 15-20 minutes.

Walking the path at a moderate speed will take you a bit less time, if you are so inclined.

As pointed out, if you get to the dock and can get on a boat before it leaves, it's about 25 mins or so. If you miss a boat however, assuming average health and fitness you can walk to DHS in about the same amount of time.

If you *just* miss a boat (like you can see it pulling away) and don’t want to wait the full time for the next one, you could walk to Beach/Yacht and catch it.

Give yourself the hour. We did this several times on our trip last week (8 nights at CC 2br). I timed it. Once on the boat, the trip took 35-ish minutes each time. It stops at each of the resorts going both ways. The catch is, that time frame only works if you arrive at the dock with a boat tied off and ready to go. On one journey, we waited at the HS dock for 20 minutes. On a nice day, it's a nice walk, though 20 minutes is a brisk pace and being generous. On a hot, humid day, I hope you enjoy the heat and/or sweating. The shortest route between the two offers little shade.

I’m glad I saw this thread! We are splitting our day between Epcot and hs (Epcot first then hs after lunch). I was planning on taking the boat but I think we will definitely walk now.

I would allot an hour, bearing in mind that the trip could take less than a half hour. You can never be sure how long you may need to wait. I have waited more than 30 minutes for a boat, though it normally doesn’t take that long. You won’t need to transfer boats; one boat makes stops at Epcot, DHS, Boardwalk, YC/BC, and Swan/Dolphin (not in that order). If the weather is good (not too hot and not raining) and you are able, the walk from Epcot to DHS is not what most people would consider short, but is nice. The walk will take you by the Boardwalk (or YC/BC if you prefer) and along a waterway to DHS and should take you a lot less than an hour, even at a leisurely pace.

We just missed the boat the last time we did it, and had to wait for the next one. It ended up taking almost an hour for the wait and the ride. We know we could have walked faster, but we used it as a bit of a break, and the boat ride is a little tour of the Epcot area resorts, so it's enjoyable. If time is your biggest concern, I'd plan to walk.
