Not sure how often this happens at the Port of Miami, but our disembarkation group and one other weren't called until sometime after 10 am. I don't know why there was a delay.

I think we arrived in port on schedule, got up around 7 am and we were already docked. All the other groups were called to disembark, then no announcement for at least an hour before the last 2 groups were called.
We were docking at sunrise, and walk-offs were beginning by 7:30. We were told they announced everyone should be off by 9. There is nothing to do on ship as the pools will have been emptied.
Not in a hurry? That's great. Although you never know, I think you'd be safe telling them 9:30. Sleep in, eat at the buffet on top, debark at 9, get your luggage, stand in line for customs, and 9:30 is a reasonable time you might be available for pickup. A cell phone will help a LOT with last minute updates.
Sometimes lightning really does strike, and something will happen to mess timing up. What if everyone gets off early and you have no line to disembark, find your luggage, and go through customs. What if everyone waits until the last minute and it takes forever to get through customs. If you and your friend can go with the flow, all will work out just fine.
