Time Share and Dining Plan

I have a friend with a time share in Williamsburg, VA. The DVC resorts are shared time shares that he can use at Disney.

My question is, can the dining plan be added on to this like it can for DVC members? I assumed that it could be, but I can't seem to find out for sure.

Basically I'm asking if you can have the dining plan if you stay at villas at Beach Club, even if you're not a DVC member?

You might try asking this on the DVC forums on the DIS. One of the timeshare experts like Dean may know the answer.

I can tell you that it has been posted that people who are renting points at the DVC resorts can add the DDP. But I haven't read about timeshare exchanges and the DDP.

Has your friend already made an exchange? Supposedly it is difficult to trade into the WDW DVC resorts.

Actually, the question is more specific than that. What your friend is considering is doing a timeshare exchange. That's different from, say, booking a room at a DVC resort through Disney's reservations office for cash (in which case you can book the Dining Plan, as long as they're currently offering a MYW package at the DVC resort).

The question about the Dining Plan for timeshare exchanges has been asked and answered twice, at least, as far as I recall. Unfortunately, my memory only extends to remembering that the question has been asked and answered -- I'm sorry but I don't remember what the actually answers were! But I suspect a quick search of the DVC forums will yield the answer for you.

If they are lucky enough to get an exchange through Interval International (timeshare exchange company), they can add the DDP just like any DVC member. They must do so for the entire party for the entire length of stay. The one difference with an exchange is you must get it for 7 days even if you plan to use it less. And while DVC is not that strict on room occupancy for direct reservations (CRO is more strict), DVC is pretty to very strict when it comes to exchanges.

Getting an exchange is another matter but it can be done. Come next week I will have stayed on 3 exchanges this year and gotten a couple of more for family. Next year I have 3 set already but one is at VB. However a 1 BR or even a studio is perfect for us and we can easily travel in the very lowest seasons including Jan and Sept. And remind them there is a $95 fee to DVC in addition to their $135 exchange fee.

That's right -- I remember now: DVC charges timeshare exchange folks a fee for use of Member Services, and one of the things you get for that fee is the ability to add the Dining Plan if you wish. Thanks for the reminder Dean.

Thanks for confirming this, i was about to ask the same question. We lucked out and managed to exchange our banked non-disney timeshare week with II for a DVC resort this summer. We were not actually looking at coming back to Disney next year but as it was available and we knew how hard they were to get we just couldnt turn it down.

I have a few other questions re the dvc etc but i will post on the correct board.

Thanks again,

Em
