Time lines for booking points & cash stays

I'm hoping to use points and cash for a future Hilton head stay (will use points for the first 4 nites then cash for the last two).

I'm planning to call at the 7-month mark - will I be able to book the nites for which I'm planning to pay cash at the same time? Or can I only book the 'points nights' then, and have to call again at the 7-month mark from the first 'cash-night'

When are you planning on going? 7 months ahead for summer is very difficult. If its not summer, then I would say you have a shot(especially for a 2 bedroom-more of these). I have not mixed cash and points reservations, would think you could reserve the cash nights the same time, but don't have first hand experience.

Planning for late August of next year. Sounds like that would be more easy to book compared to July or early August.

I'm thinking of using points for Aug 18-21 then cash for the nite of the 21st, 22nd and 23'rd. Just trying to figure out if I can book the 21-24 dates when I call at the 7-month mark for August 18th.
