Time involved with hopping and/or afternoon breaks

My husband and I were just debating about whether to buy the hopping option with our MYW tickets. Let me preface this by saying we have been to WDW at least 5 times in the last few years and always go during value season. We have found that hopping and taking afternoon breaks is so time consuming that it is not worth it. We have found that hopping takes about 30-45 minutes. And the few times we took afternoon breaks, our children fell asleep on the bus and were refreshed and ready to go soon after getting back to the room. Unless you are staying at a monorail resort or the Epcot resorts, going back to your room takes another 1/2 hr each way plus whatever time you spend in the room. Now we stay at the same park all day and let the children take naps in the stroller. We bring our own so it is more comfortable. Anyway, it seems on these boards every one always suggests these two things. Am I missing something? I would like to take a break but with 2 small children it takes me 20 minutes just to get their shoes back on and out the door again. Help me figure out how to do this.

Our family has been to WDW 5 times on the last five years. We have always either hopped and/or taken the midday break. I think we may consider doing the next vacation w/o hopping option due to time and money savings. I agree that it seems like forever to go back to, for example All Stars from MK, and rest midday. On our last trip we were much more creative about finding ways to rest in the parks during the day. Re hopping, I think that if you play the crowds right (being aware of park hours. EMH days and crowd trends) parkhopping would not be necessary.

I can't imagine going to WDW without hoppers. For the small cost involved, it gives you so much more flexibility, and you are not at the mercy of the crowds.
