Time Frame question

I hope this is the correct place for this question.

If i wanted to rent DVC point from someone for a last minute trip, I clearly wouldn't have a copy of the reservation that the owners usually send to the renter. I assume you don't have to have the confirmation with you when you check in. Am I correct?

I never take the confirmation with me when we check-in and have never had a problem. They pull your reservation up by name.
