Time for new glasses - Bifocals or not?

I currently wear contact lenses for distance, but the last couple of years I have had to wear reading glasses on top of the contacts for reading small print. I also have regular glasses that I can wear instead of contact lenses, but I need a new prescription for them.
So I need to pick out new glasses. I'm not sure if I should just get single vision glasses for distance - I can look over the top of them to read small print and see just fine - or - should I get bifocals?
Do they make bifocal contact lenses and if so, does anyone have them? How do you feel about them? :surfweb:

I just could not adjust to my bifocals, so I had to go out and purchase another pair of glasses for reading. I already have distance glasses. I think what I need is a magnifying glass! :) Can't seem to get my reading prescription right. I remember my eye doctor mentioning that you really start to see changes in your sight around age 40. I'm 52 now, and it is becoming more and more difficult to read small print. I know people who just can't seem to adjust to the bifocals and others that do fine. Good luck!

They make bifocal contacts. In fact they make multifocal lenses. They take a while to get used to and some people give up before there brains adjust. A good eye care professional will work with you and make adjustments to get the correction right. It could take a few attempts before they get it to your satisfaction. Ive had mine for about three years now. They are the extended wear type and I actually sleep in mine. I like that I dont have to hunt for readers every time I want to look at a label. And I can buy regular sunglasses. The big drawback is that my lenses arent cheap. And I still need to have glasses for those days when I dont feel like wearing contacts.
