Time for Grad Gift ideas please...

There is another book that is similar to the Dr. Seuss book. It's called "Yay, You! Moving Out, Moving Up, Moving On" and it's by Sandra Boynton. It's less well known than the Dr. Seuss book, but cute all the same.

I love the idea of the Dr. Seuss book and the luggage. My DD is graduating this June and heading off to college in the fall. This idea just may work. Do they have room to store luggage in the dorms??

If rascalmom doesn't mind...I'd love to hear other ideas too!

Everyone LOVES getting money--but it is often no fun to give. Here's a more clever way to give the grad the $$$ they want.

Write them a check--but make it out to an amount the reflects the year they are graduating in: $20.04 for this year. I got a check like that when I graduated and I thought it was the most clever thing in the world.

I'll third the laundry basket filled with stuff idea. The laundry basket I got back in 1995 is still with me.....every college student needs laundry money and supplies b/c it's the last thing they think of when packing for school.

Money. Even if her schooling is paid for, she will ALWAYS have expenses to pay for that arent included... not to mention road trips, dinners out, clothes, social activities, class projects, etc etc

Gift cards to places like Target and Container Store. I bought tons of organization things at Container Store for dorm life

Towels with her name monogrammed on them... I loved having these for my dorm... and everyone knew which one was mine =)

Throw blanket for her dorm - could do something sentimental/personalized with this

I am not a fan of sentimental gifts for graduations and such... what are you doing to do with them? You dont have room for nick-nacky things in a dorm, nor do you really wnat to display them there, and in a few years, you'll move on and not want them in your home anyways. Know where all my graduation nick-nacks are? In a box in my garage. I actually sold a bunch of stuff at a garage sale before I got married, and anything that had a date on it stayed in a box. I'm going to throw them away before we move again... they're just not worth hanging onto. BUT I am nota sentimental person with things like that... I hate clutter, esp dated clutter LOL

I always go with the practical and fun! Stuff she can use NOW and enjoy, not sit and look at on a shelf =)
