Time for Gatorland or Not

I have a flight that leaves at 3:30 p.m. the day the cruise ends. I was planning on taking my daughter to Gatorland so we wouldn't have to sit at the airport for that long but I'm not sure if we'll have enough time. Gatorland is 13 miles from the airport and 52 miles from the port. If I rent a car at 9:00 am and then drive, it should take a little over an hour and then back to the airport should only take 30 minutes at the most but I still have to return the car and I just don't know.................. What else is there to do around the port? Maybe this would be better so we can go straight to airport afterwards. Any suggestions would be appreciated. We leave on Tuesday to begin our adventure.

I believe you could do it, but you'll feel rushed even if you aren't. I have an alternate recommendation. Not far from Port Canaveral is The Lone Cabbage Fish Camp. You and DD can take a memorable one-hour + airboat ride and eco-tour. The guides are experienced and quite knowledgable. Hopefully this link will work: http://twisterairboatrides.tripod.com/

After the airboat ride, you and DD could treat yourselves to lunch at the Fish Camp restaurant. It has a very "down home" atmosphere. You can try local fare such as gator burgers and fresh turtle soup, or just stick with a cheeseburger and fries...

Another option would be to consider a day room at the hotel at the airport. There is a pool for the hotel guests, and I believe a playground also at the airport for anyone. I could be wrong here. We are having the same problem. I dont want to be rushed but I also dont want to be sitting at the airport with a five year old for 4 hrs!

I hear you. If I get to the airport around 10:00 am I"ll have 5 1/2 hours before my plane leaves followed by almost 5 more hours in the air. I don't think so.

Yikes..yours is worse than mine! I figured last min shopping will take an hour at the airport, still not enough time killed!!!! I am sure by then I will have a nice and cranky 5yr old nephew that I adore but am ready to give back to his Mom

We are usually off the boat by 8am.. we have hung out at the airport twice, went to downtown disney once and plan on trying gaterland this year. It is really a half day site so I think you would have more than enough time... althought I may check out BD's airboat ride that sounds cool too.
