I've toyed with the idea on and off of starting a journal. I've also toyed with the idea on and off of becoming serious about losing weight. I decided a few days ago to take the plunge so here I am, starting my journey-again-but more determined this time to set realistic goals for myself and more importantly-STICK to those goals.

About me -
I'm 31, have 2 DS's ages 11 and 3 and have been married for 12 years. I am a SAHM and really enjoy the time I get to spend with my kids. I've never been really good about controlling myself around food. I've also never been a big exercise junkie. A junk food junkie yes, exercise, not much. With that being said, I plan to change that about myself a little at a time. I realize I am going to slip up and will even still allow myself special treats now and then.
*If you check out my tags you can see that I really do like sweets*

My long-term goal is to lose around 80lbs. I haven't thought much about a short term goal but would love to get involved in some of the exercise challenges here and see how that works for me. I am joining a gym on Friday and plan to stick with this for the long haul! I will update my journal daily and keep a record of what I eat and how much.

So, welcome to my journal. Just the beginning of a brand new ME! :goodvibes

WELCOME!!! :wave2: I'm glad you're here. You've come to the right place. We're all here for the same reason. To become healthier DIS-ers!! :thumbsup2

You have some GREAT goals...and we'll be here for you through your ups & downs (yes, we all have them).

Good luck, and keep on journaling!! If you have time, visit some other journals...they're the ones that keep ME going!

Hey Luckywife, welcome to the Wish journals. I've just started posting here also. I'm sure that the supportive members of the Dis will help us acheive our goals. I've heard from many sources that journaling is one of the keys to positive lifestyle changes. Much success to you on your journey!

Hi Kim. Thanks for posting and for the positive feedback. Over the last few weeks I've been reading journals and they have really given me the inspiration to start my own. I just finished one journal so now I am off to start reading yours! :sunny:

Hey Dee! Thanks to you too for the well wishes. Best of luck to you with WISH journey. I know we can do this!! :)

Food yesterday for me didn't start off too bad but by the end of the night I really messed up. :sad2:

Nothing sounded too great for breakfast so I had 2 pieces of lunchmeat turkey with mustard. I've never been a big breakfast eater so having something every morning is going to take some getting used to. So far I've had nothing this morning but plan to eat maybe an egg and a piece of toast in a little while.

I took DS's to Burger King for lunch yesterday and the only thing that looked appealing was a side salad. I ate the biggest part of that but when we got home I was still hungry. I grabbed a turkey sandwich (this time with bread) and then cleaned my house. A few hours later I was hungry again so I had another turkey sandwich with 2 pieces of bread.

Oldest DS had a baseball game yesterday and I actually controlled myself really well and didn't get my usual soft pretzel with cheese. I did have a big coke and 3 Airheads. I looked at the package and saw they only have 60 calories but it's hard telling how much sugar they have. Oh well. I won't have any next time. For dinner we had chicken patty sandwiches and I should have had ONE of them, not two. Next time I'll make sure to stop with just one because I didn't need the other. Even with 2 of them and the bread the calories didn't seem too out of control.

I would have been better off to find something for a snack last night but instead I had a nice sized piece of DQ ice cream cake  The boys wanted to get their dad one for Father's Day but thankfully it's gone now so at least I don't have to worry about eating that again!

I've noticed that it's going to be really hard for me to give up soda. I can't stand diet so I'm really not sure what to do about this. I also know that I need to start drinking more water, which shouldn't be a problem.

Hopefully today is a better food day for me. We're going swimming since it's so hot out so I should be fine :sunny:

Welcome to WISH! :welcome: First of all, I just wanted to say that I am SO JEALOUS you are going to Cedar Point! I love that place! I grew up in Michigan and we went there all the time. Now I am lucky if I get to go once every other year... :sad1:

I'm sure it is hard to get used to breakfast, but maybe there are some new things you could try that will make it easier? Just because it is breakfast time doesn't mean you have to eat breakfast food.

Yes, definitely get the water in. I don't know what to tell you about breaking the soda habit. I allow myself 1 Diet Coke per day. Have you tried some different flavors of diet sodas? You might like those. I also love the Minute Maid Light drinks. They are only 10 calories per can and something different than water.

Sweets is a tough habit to get out of. I buy the Sugar Free Life Savers or Creme Savers and suck on one of those when I really feel the "need" to have something I shouldn't be...

Try to get some sort of exercise in and take some healthy snacks to your baseball games. YOU CAN DO IT! :cheer2:

Amy

Hi Amy. Thanks for stopping by my journal to offer support-it means a lot to me!! I love Cedar Point too, it's by far our favorite amusement park. I was thinking about what you said about breakfast not meaning I have to eat breakfast food. I am going to give that a try a few mornings and see how that works out for me
================================

I am going to the store today to get some healthy food items in the house. I've done really well staying away from the Snickers ice cream we have in the freezer. I've had one bowl of it and that was last week when we first bought it.

As for food yesterday....

Breakfast-I never really did get around to having much of a breakfast. I know that's a big no-no so I'm going to try really hard to break that bad habit.

Lunch-turkey sandwich on a bun with a little mustard. One cookie and 4 cheese nips.

Dinner-3 pretty small pieces of pizza and probably 10 pringles.

I can definitely see where I'm messing up with my eating habits. Not eating breakfast is bad so that is my goal now, to at least eat a little something every morning. I think with going to the store today and getting some better food in the house I'll feel more like eating every morning.

I have to start drinking water!! My friend told me there are some sodas with Splenda in them so when I go to the store today I'll see what I can find. I'm willing to try anything if it means I don't have to give up having a Coke or something once a day. Water is a MUST though and I need to make that a priority so that is my 2nd goal....start drinking a mug of water a few times a day. DS has another baseball game tonight so a bottle of water is going out there with me.

For the most part I feel pretty good about how I'm doing with watching what I eat. I can see there are some flaws but at least I realize that and am willing to deal with them head on, which is something the "old" me would have ignored.

Hope everyone has a good day :sunny:

Congrats on planning some healthy purchases at the grocery store! I'm sure you realize this already, but there is definitely a lack of fruits and veggies in your diet. Do you have any favorites you could stock up on?

I've had the Diet Coke w/Splenda. It is good. Way sweeter than regular Diet Coke. Diet Rite also makes some in different flavors and they use Splenda. They have Tangerine, Red Raspberry and White Grape. I hope you can find something you enjoy.

Have an awesome time at Cedar Point! And ride Raptor for me!!

I did get to the store today and bought plenty of things that are good for me and will hopefully get me going in the right direction.

LOL Amy! I noticed after I'd written in my journal the last few days that I had NO fruits/veggies at all. So today at the store I bought some that I really like and should last until my trip to the grocery store next week. I had never had nsa applesauce before but bought some and it was really very good. I also bought a huge seedless watermelon, some grapes and strawberries.

Thanks again for offering your advice and support-means a lot. I will take a spin or two on Raptor just for you!

Have a great weekend everyone :)

This morning we're leaving for a quickie trip to Cedar Point! This will be our 2nd time up there so far this season. I really do enjoy that place but I hope I can keep my eating under control but I should be OK because we're only going to be gone one day.

Yesterday I did fairly well. Right now I feel like it's not so much the food that I'm having a hard time keeping under control, it's the soda and iced tea. Although at the pizza party we hosted for DS's baseball team last night I did stick to only water and unsweetened iced tea-which I love.

Food yesterday-

Breakfast-1/2 PB&J sandwhich. This is a step in the right direction for me because I always used to skip this meal.

Lunch-12 veggie crackers, nsa applesauce, several pieces of watermelon and a turkey sandwich

At the ball diamond I had a Coke and some water but nothing to munch on this time. Yay!

Dinner-We hosted a pizza party for our DS's baseball team. Whew! 11 boys in a pizza place at the same time! Let's just say I'm glad it's over! It was fun though :)

I had a pretty good size salad loaded with lots of veggies. French dressing is my favorite but they didn't carry fat-free or anything and no other dressing really appeals to me so I used regular French dressing but didn't get carried away with it. Along with my salad I had 4 club crackers and one very small piece of veggie pizza. I was very pleased with myself when we left because I not only passed on the breadsticks and cheese, which are my favorites, but I also passed on supreme pizza and cinnastix with some kind of yummy looking icing to dip them in. It ended up being a good day yesterday.

Haven't had time for breakfast yet this morning. I have been trying to hunt down a missing shoe for the past 45 minutes but I'm about ready to give up! DH had to work for a few hours this morning so I called him and asked him about it. I loved what he asked me about the shoe. "Where was the last place you put it?" Uh Hello! If I knew that the darn shoe wouldn't be lost! I felt like telling him "Here's Your Sign!" :rolleyes1

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

You did great at the pizza place! :cheer2: We just had a party the end of May for my DS10's baseball team. It stresses me out when there are that many kids all over the place!

I hope you are able to make some wise food choices at Cedar Point. They certainly don't make it easy! I :lovestruc their mongo caramel apples.

Great job getting breakfast in! Pretty soon you will get used to it and look forward to it!

Did you go on Top Thrill Dragster? I've been on it twice and I think I can live without going again. I love Millenium Force and of course my fave Raptor. I bet you are having an awesome time!

Time to catch up since it's been a few days.

Food over the weekend when we were away at Cedar Point was not good at all! I realize I made some major mistakes with eating too much and not drinking enough water. Yesterday didn't seem to be much better but I'm going to be back on track today.

DH was sick yesterday so I had to take him to the doctor and found out he has a slight case of the flu and a pretty bad sinus infection. I really can't remember much of what I ate but mostly because it was nothing but junk. Today is a new day so my goals are-

1. Exercise for at least 25-30 minutes.

2. Drink plenty of water

3. No junk food!!!!!

None of this should be a big problem today because I have things to do and should stay pretty busy.

lovinaz We actually didn't get to ride much at CP this weekend. It was the busiest I've seen it in years and even rides such as The Iron Dragon had a 30 minute wait. MF wasn't running when we got there but later in the day it was going and by that time it had a wait of 2 hours!

We did get to go on Raptor, but only one time. That's one of our favorites too. I've only been on The Dragster one time and that was last year. It scared me so bad that I vowed to never ride it again. DH and DS love it though so if they chose to wait in line for it, I usually go to some of the shows and shops.

Hope everyone has a good day :)

Those are some great goals! Just take it one day at a time. You can get back on track starting now!

Sorry to hear CP was so crowded! I am bummed that we won't be going this year and I know my DD7 is bummed because she is finally the magical 48" tall and she is now tall enough to ride some big roller coasters. Maybe next year... Hopefully it will be less crowded when you go again! I'm so jealous!!

Nice to meet you!!! Sounds like you're doing great!! I just started my journal and it's nice to meet someone in a similar situation (I'm 32).

Have you ever tired Diet Dr. Pepper? It's the best diet drink I've ever had. I have one can a day and I really like the taste.
