Time for a new character meal?

We love dining with characters. I am sure character meals bring in big profis for Disney. But I would really like to see some new charater dining. Here are my suggestions:

Toy Story dining with Woody, Buzz, Jesse and friends. It can be held at Hollywood and Vine for dinner or a remodeled Pizza Planet. The building for Pizza PLanet is large. I'm sure it can be changed to be a buffet/table service pretty easily. You can even make this a Pixar themed dining experience.

Tinkerbell and Fairies Dining. Can be done at Cape May Cafe for Dinner or at the Garden Grill.

Any other ideas??

Many people have been looking for a Phineas and Ferb character meal. My DS, 8, would love that.

:worship: YES!

I'd prefer no more character dining, personally. The thing I'd think they should consider changing is the two meals at Hollywood and Vine featuring characters that appeal exclusively to preschool children. They could take those two meals and replace them with Toy Story or whatever else people want that has wider appeal.

I tend to agree, I think Disney went a little overboard with all the Charactor meals, we use to love going to the Garden Grill @ the land but now that it is a Character meal and ressies so hard to come by it is out not to mention they changed the menu. The restaurant in Norway was nice but now it too is a character meal. It was just more special back when you had Cinderella Castle , Crystal Palace and I recall going to an Alladin Breakfast at MGM(DHS)

It use to be fun trying to find the charactors and so exciting when you finally did find them, now the place is overrun with Charactors, it just lost that certain specialness that was once there.

Yes I agree another character option would be nice.

I like the toy story option, but I also like the villians option. But I do hear that is coming with the new Fantasyland expansion. (or at least speculation of villians)

I also would like to see more "classic" characters of the animal movies, such as The fox and the hound, Aristocats, Bambi, Lady and the Tramp. I know that Marie from the Aristocats can be seen from time to time.
But it would be interesting for the kids to interact with the animal characters.

Am I correct that there are no character meals with Pixar characters? If so, I wonder if it has to do with some contractural agreement with Pixar. Otherwise I can't believe that Disney would ignore such a great potential for revenue. I'll bet a lot of people would love to see a Toy Story character meal, especially when you consider that there have been 3 Toy Story movies and that the third was by far the top grossing movie of 2010 (at least I think that's the way I heard it, it made a lot of money anyways).

definitely a toy story/pixar one!!! at Hollywood and Vine. Get rid of the playhouse disney one. especially since the characters are outdated there.

a peter pan, captain hook, tinker bell and mr smee meal would be awesome

as would a pirates of the Caribbean meal. Really I think there should be more Jack Sparrow in the parks in the way of meetings!!!! :lovestruc

As the mom of two boys I think Disney is missing the boat in these areas. We have just as much money to burn as the mommies of princesses do :cutie:

I totally agree about a Toy Story Character Meal. In fact I called to inquire if Disney would be adding one after Toy Story 3 was released. I was told by CM at Central Calling Center there was not one and she did not know if one would be added any time soon. I know my 2 nephews (7 & 5) would absolutely love it!!!!:yay:

This. We used to love Akershus pre-Princesses. Now, it's totally ruined for us.

they use to do pocahantas and her associated characters at wl but i don't think they do that anymore. i think the character meals are fine but they need to be more than the princesses everywhere you go. i'm glad there is more than one place to see the princesses or you'd never get in to see them but i'd LOVE phineas and ferb or the toy story characters. it would be great to have more character related meals at the associated resorts like pirates or peter pan at cbr, maybe emperors new groove at cs, the princess and the frog characters at por/pofq, the classic characters at pop (yes it's a food court but they could blow through)...idk something like that.

1) Agree.
2) Agree.
3) Agree.
4) Too many character meals already.
. . . food is mediocre, as you are paying for characters not food quality
. . . good sit downs are being eroded
. . . fewer and fewer park meals where you can sit and relax
5) In fact, I could go for the reduction of one or two more character meals.

Yes!! :thumbsup2 I have two little girls, and I think they need to update the character meals. BUT they don't need to add one, they need to update one of the myriad that are already around- specifically the Hollywood and Vine one.

I think they should look at strategically adding some more that more current and fresh.

My thoughts -
a breakfast and lunch option with Woody, Jesse, Bullseye, Mr. Potato Head in western gear and a traditional Mickey character in western gear at Whispering Canyon at Wilderness Lodge

kill Liberty Tree Tavern and make it into a great New Orleans themed restaurant with Tiana, Naveen, Louis, maybe a dressed up Minnie

update Hollywood and Vine - I know they are adding Agent Oso but maybe look at adding Phineas and Ferb too

not really a character meal but a more current theme that my kids would LOVE - at DHS replace something that is not doing well or just open something new that is a Radio Disney themed location - play the current tunes in rotation with videos on screens, have big posters, themed Radio Disney decor, then in merchandise sell Radio Disney shirts, promo items, CDs etc of the artists like Hannah, Selena, Jonas, Taylor , Mitchell etc. - maybe hold special events there occasionally where the DJs are there

Would be nice if there was a fairy one once the new section at FantasyLand is open.

That's it from me!

You're so right! A Pixar-themed dining experience would be so amazing. It actually surprises me that one doesn't exist yet. That was the idea I was going to bring up as soon as I saw the thread title, but you beat me to it! :goodvibes

O'Hana with Lilo, Stitch, Mickey

They need a meal geared for boys. Do they not understand that they boys feel like all the meals are for girls or for their sisters.

Are they opening a Belle & Beast resturant in the new section? Yeah, just what they need ANOTHER princess/girl meal. They have other things to offer besides princesses!! It is like, hello, you just did a Toy Story 3, what princess movies have had three that have been this successful???

It is like they have all the girls favorites, but not the boys. I just do not get it either. Phineas and Ferb would be good because older kids like it, too.

BTW, my kids would not go to Hollywood and Vine because those are baby characters. They should change it to make it appealing to a wider variety of people.

For the ones who say there are to many character meals, it is an easy way to meet the characters without waiting forever and standing possible outside in the sun, expecially for people who do not get to go a lot. In 10 years when I have teens I may change my mind lol.

it's kinda funny that a number of people here are calling for the end of Holywood & Vine Clubhouse Disney character meal ... and our next trip (later this year) we will have a pre-schooler with us and I was excited to see this option. She love's Manny and Oso so think it will be fun

Maybe they could just add in Phineas and Ferb / Freshbeat Band / etc. to this so that the little kids and somewhat older kids both have options there
