Hello All,

thanks to those of you who already answered my questions about flying with a 9 month old.
I have one more question - how did your BABIES (and i don't mean children who are old enough to understand explanation), cope with the time difference when you arrived? Did they wake at like 1am or sleep til 6, did they need a couple of feeds in the night at first.
Experiences please!

Our DS was 11 months when we first took him, he got up at about 4 / 5 am the first couple of days, and then gradually just started to fit in with the swing of things. Hoestly you don't need to worry their body clock will adjust to what you are doing. I wouldn't bother trying to work out time differences and sticking to that as they will do what they feel anyway. We just let him get up and nap when it suited. I think you may spoil your holiday a little if you are trying to stick too much to a routine.

hth gems :)

Our DD was 13 m.o. when we first visited WDW. We didn't have any major problems in the US although she did wake up earlier for the first couple of days. :)

We found it was the return to the UK that caused all the sleep-pattern issues. Our DD is a night-owl anyway, but not wanting to sleep until 4am was not much fun! :headache: She did finally settle back to her regular routine about 4 weeks after we got home though. :yay:

DD normally goes to bed at 8.30pm at home so when we got to WDW we checked in to the hotel and then popped to DTD to get some tea. We then took DD back to the room and she went to bed at about 8.30pm local time. We also gave her an extra meal around what would have been her normal dinner time on the way out.

The next morning she woke up early but I just settled her back to sleep and from then on she just fitted in with the new routine :goodvibes

Each night we were there we stayed out a bit later and she couped fine.

Coming home she didn't sleep very long on the plane but had a 3 hour sleep in the car on the drive home. We then let have her usual afternoon nap and put her to bed normal time. This was fine but she wasn't waking in the mornings till about 9.30! (Normally up at 8)

You just need to work with your own baby and remember you know them best :thumbsup2

Thanks so far guys, I'm not one for sticking religiously to a routine and we do like to "go with the flow" but I just didn't want to be getting up at 1am or anything crazy like that!

DS was 2 the first time we went and he had no problems at all not only with the time difference upon arrival or when we got home.
Owen (who will be 15 months) I am hoping will just fit in with the local time. I know that the change in clock here has never bothered him so fingers crossed. Thankfully we have a family wedding in Chicago first before we head down to Orlando so at least we have family on hand to help out if we need a nap in the afternoon and he is wide awake :worship:
