We have some time on our hands after our cruise and before our flight home. We were thinking about going to cocoa beach for a few hours. Does anyone know how long it takes to get there from the port and how long it takes to get from the beach to the airport? Is it a nice beach for swimming? Thanks!

Cocoa is just a few minutes from the port. Both are about an hour (or less) from the airport. You don't say if you have kids with you. There are a few public beaches at Cocoa (some have pay parking lots) with outdoor showers, but I really wouldn't want to go to the beach & get sandy/sweaty/full of sunscreen & then fly home. Personally, I would get a cheap hotel room so I could take a shower before flying out (or get a day room at the Hyatt/MCO & use the pool there).

Thanks for the info. We do have 3 children and that was my concern about going home all "sandy". I was also kind of worried leaving all are luggage in the rental car while we're at the beach. Thats all we need is to have someone steal it.:(

We had that situation once; we had to wait for the AutoTrain leaving out of Sanford (not too far from Orlando).

Since we can never get enough of Disney we drove the rental car to Downtown Disney and spent our last day shopping for souvenirs.

Nobody likes leaving but a morning at the World of Disney is not a bad way to go.

We plan our flights for Sunday and treat Saturday as a shore excursion day.

Last year we did Epcott, this year we're doing Disney/MGM Studios.
