There in lies the rub, he is getting a free pass from people because it is his personal belief system. But If Random Player B celebrated after every touchdown with a "BY THE POWER OF GRAYSKUL, I HAVE THE POWER" and after the game praised "The Sword of Power" for giving him the abilities, motivation and desire to do his job, people who are vehemently defending how Tebow conducts himself would look at Player B like he had 4 heads.
Please don't perceive that the wrong way, I'm not saying Tebow should be looked at as if he has 4 heads. I'm just saying that is the quandary that Tebow has created for all football fans. Is he over-the-top for everyone? no. Is he over-the0top for me personally, yes. Should he stop mentioning and displaying his personal beliefs all together? no, I don't think he should. Should he dial them back a little? Yes I believe he should. Is he an overall good role model? sure in his personal life. Could he be doing better at being a professional role model? I absolutely believe so.
Just my opinion as a fan of Football, right now Tebow for me is lumped into the category of players I don't like. Could that change? absolutely.
I venture to say if Tebow was thankin' a same sex partner/spouse for their support, a lot of folks would claim he's crammin' his lifestyle down the public's throat.
