How in the world is praising God for your victories rather than taking all the credit yourself not humble?I like people who hold their beliefs dear but who also respects the beliefs of others. IMHO how he conducts himself is not that of a humble person. I would feel the same exact way if he threw up the Sign of the Hammer and praised Oden, praised Allah, Hailed Satan or thanked scientists for developing safer equipment. The fact of the matter is that I find him obnoxious. I don't expect others to feel the same way that I do, but that won't stop me from expressing my opinion.

He's not listening to advice or taking guidance? Says who? From the looks of things he is making improvements, so he's listening to somebody and working at it.
So he should listen to other players before he listens to what he feels that he is called by God to do? Last time I checked, Tom Brady and Payton Manning weren't great humans, by the way.Not listening to the advice and guidance of your professional peers is a perfect example of not being humble, that is what I was speaking to. The point is if any player in the league was over-the-top in any other manner and a former player called them out and essentially said "hey kid, dial it back a little " I'd expect them to listen and be humble. IMHO Tebow clearly isn't the type to listen to the suggestions of other people if the suggestion differs from his worldview, he has proven such. Unlike respectable proven winners and all around great humans such as Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Payton Manning and even Tom Brady. Every single QB I listed got to where they got because they were humble enough to listen and learn from those who came before them. Tebow just needs to grow up, until he shows a level of respect and maturity he will never succeed as a long term NFL QB, because his persona is great when his team is winning but how old will it get with his teammates when the Broncos start losing?
For the record I never liked TO or Ochocinco for the very reason I don't like Tebow.
There are just as many people telling him not to back away from expressing his beliefs. Ultimately, he can't listen to everybody. He is not listening to advice regarding how he conducts himself as a professional, former and current players have both directly and indirectly suggested he dial it back a bit and he hasn't.

They work hard, they respect others, they are leaders on and off the field, they are winners and they are involved in various charitable organizations (Peyton Manning started the "Peyback Foundation" and Brady supports "Best Buddies"). In 1996, while still quarterback at the University of Tennessee, Manning dropped his pants while being treated by assistant athletic trainer Jamie Ann Naughright. After an investigation, the university concluded the incident was a "mooning" gone awry and not sexual in nature, and Manning was disciplined and required to apologize in writing to Naughright. The university chose to settle Naughright's sexual harassment claims (which included the Manning incident) for $300,000. In 2003, Manning settled a 2002 lawsuit filed by Naughright for $300,000. In the suit Naughright alleged that "Manning: A Father, His Sons and a Football Legacy", a book written by Manning, his father and author John Underwood, defamed her.
Brady fathered a child out of wedlock and didn't step up to the plate and attempt to make things work with the mother. When my husband and I have children, I would prefer a role model like Tebow over one like Brady.
And Tebow's Tim Tebow Foundation also does a great deal of good - such as building a hospital in the Philippines.
He is not listening to advice regarding how he conducts himself as a professional, former and current players have both directly and indirectly suggested he dial it back a bit and he hasn't. As far as on the field performance goes he is a pure athlete and has a desire to excel so of course he is listening to advice on how to play his position, the issue is desire will only take one so far without the all around skills to take it to the next level needed to excel in the NFL.
His minor improvement coincides with Fox transitioning the offense to the style Tebow played in college, that can hardly be considered progression. The only thing Tebow is good at besides running is taking care of the ball, he only has something like 1 turnover which is astounding considering he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with most (not all) of his throws. We'll see what he can do against the Bears run defense this week and a legit Playoff team in The Pats in week 15. I personally don't see the Broncos winning another game this season, I could be proven wrong of course especially when the Bills and Chiefs are week 16 and 17.
Yes, it's called being kind, courteous and respectful to those around you, but if obnoxious and over-the-top is what he prefers to be then that's on him, but I don't need to like it or respect it.

I understand, but IMO he should listen to both sides and come to a middle ground. IMO he needs to look at how Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees conduct themselves and be a little bit more like them. Not saying he should stop being himself, just do what some of his peers have suggested and dial it back a bit.
Obviously I don't like how he carries himself and it makes me not like him. As I have previously stated it's not what he believes that bothers me it's how he chooses to express it.![]()

wow, glad to know you know him personally and what ADVICE he is getting.....
you really think he is obnoxious and over the top?
Really??
ha ha...me thinks you are a jealous.
Whether or not he wants to be evangelical and thank God in interviews has nothing to do with professionalism and has everything to do with how his evangelical faith works. I'd have much less respect for him if he allowed people to tell him how he should act about his faith instead of doing what he thinks is right. Strength of conviction is a good thing in most cases even if it isn't a conviction I share.
The evangelical thing isn't for me but it doesn't make me think more or less of a person if they are evangelical. If they want to tank Jesus or Allah or Vishnu or Ra go ahead.

IMO It has every bit to do with his professionalism, he gets paid to play Football. When he is wearing that uniform he represents the Broncos organization first, His teammates second, the NFL third then himself and his beliefs. The point I was making was that I don't feel as though he conducts himself in a mature and professional manner nor is he humble enough to listen to the guidance and advice of his professional peers (former and active NFL players).
But like I said before it's just my opinion, not saying people shouldn't like the guy, just saying I don't. He doesn't do anything grossly wrong, we're not talking Rae Carruth here. It's just my personal opinion![]()
I don't mean to pick on you, but it is interesting to me that you view Tebow's comportment (re. talking about his faith) as unprofessional and sign of immaturity. Whether that reveals a bias you may have is beside the point.
I do disagree that putting one's faith first and foremost in life in all settings is a sign of being unprofessional or immature. If he was always giving long talks about Doctor Who or My Little Pony then I would agree with you.
