Actually Tikiman flat out says he thinks to accommodate DVC and other changes the entire resort would be torn down. Clearly he was wrong.

"As much as every time I have asked about DVC and they have told me they did not have the land to do it and it would not happen, this time DVC seemed to be what everyone was mentioning.
After all I heard I came up with my theory on what I see when I put the pieces together and some at Disney agree with me.

DVC will go in but to do this and to give the resort the attention it needs they will not just take down the GCH (which is needed anyway) but they will take down the resort and build a new one with the same theme."

Perhaps re-read the quote you selected where the author acknowledges this is his own theory.

Have been following Tikiman for a year or so here, on FB and his page, and I have to say it is very sad. He had more of a following than anyone knows. Anyone that called him out on his speculations or pictures posted should be ashamed. He kept more people entertained and informed than we'll ever know. Shame on Disney and anyone that gives him a hard time here!!!!!

To whom does that come across as confirmation? Certainly not me and you, yourself, have just utilized the same phrasing that you have condemned him for, in your use of many as a generalization. Except, the author had a clear sense of what "many" represented as it appears as though he is familiar with many who work at Disney, yet your use of the phrase is more a generalization and speculation.

Tikiman, I'm not going to quote your whole post. I know you put out information you are told but as I said, because things change so much some can be wrong. The specifics are not actually important it's the fact that it happens and it can cause issues. I am in no way saying anything was intentional, clearly wasn't, but unintentional misinformation can lead to problems.

But as far as specifics, I promised people I would never put specifics online and I never will. They expect my trust and will get it.

Disney should be very thankful for all that Tikiman has done on his site and all the useful information he has provided. It is because of him that so many want to stay at the Polynesian. Trying to find out information from Disney is sometimes frustrating and conflicting. I have had 3 different CM's tell me 3 different things about the same thing. I love sites like Tikiman's they are where I go first to plan my trips.
I have never found anything on Tikiman's site to turn out to be wrong.

yep to that. I agree that Tikiman gave Disney's property TONS of great, free publicity (his page inspired me to stay there) if Disney did give him a cease & desist, shame on them

Tikiman, I've read your posts and site for years and thank you for all the hard work. As one who spend over a decade running a site and walking away a few months ago after having enough of the conflicts.. I have some advice. Ignore the naysayers...there will always be some, but they truly don't matter when you know the good work you do and hopefully will continue to do. And remember..there will always be some who intend to benefit from your decisions, which speaks to their integrity, not yours.

Disney should welcome the free advertising but then maybe they don't want to call too much attention to the resort now. To be polite, it doesn't exactly look as good as it once did.

lol I wasn't condemning anyone.

Just pointing out that in this case he was relying on "inside" info from CM's and others connected to Disney in his speculation that turned out to be 100% false, which is very different than admitting his info was likely not 100% true.

Now, do you think this speculation -- from a well know Polynesian "expert" -- carried weight with those that follow his website/blog/social media accounts? I do. I'm sure this news freaked a lot of people out. I'm sure a lot of people reconsidered future travel plans because of what he said.

I'm not sure how any of this is even debatable?

I'm sorry TM won't be contributing as much info that he previously had. But such is life.

Wow! This situation blows my mind. From what I've been reading here and in other places...people speculate all the time...it gives us something to talk about...think about and hope about! Nothing is confirmed, unless Disney makes the official announcement! I would hope we all realize that as we try to get the "inside scoop" on things that it is a BEST GUESS SCENARIO. Yes, people like to talk...work crew...staff....whomever and speculation is based on information gathered. It's never for certain. I love the updated photos on facebook and all of the speculative comments, both positive and negative! In addition to the speculations and rumors, the photos give me the opportunity to throw in my guesses on when things will be done. Sometimes I say, "Wow...that won't be done by mid-April!" Or...."Wow...they are moving right along!" I just can't believe that Disney would put pressure on someone posting on Facebook! We do live in a FREE COUNTRY...freedom of speech! Please, Tikiman, reconsider your position! We love your posts and pages and speculations!

I agree with this. Although legally it may not be that simple. I question the timing of all of this. Tikiman has been doing his thing for years. He has never claimed that his information was 100% accurate. He just passed it along as it was given to him by what he considered reliable sources. That fact that Disney is now taking umbrage with his efforts I think has more to do with the fact that it may, in their perception, be hurting them financially at the Poly. Disney IMO has been making obvious efforts to notify their guests about the state of repair at the resort as late as possible. These boards and others are filled with people that are "jumping ship" and switching their reservations to other resorts because the construction is not as far along as they had hoped. The Lava pool construction is behind schedule and that may affect DVC or at least the initial DVC visitors who are now booked to be there before the main pool opens. Tikiman's facebook page provides anyone interested in a daily snapshot of what is really going on at the resort. He is not doing it with any malice, in fact quite the opposite. But it's the end result Disney is concerned with maybe. And Disney does not like that. I think all of this reinforces the idea that Disney should have "bit the bullet" and shut down the entire resort to tackle a construction project of this magnitude instead of trying to squeeze out every last dime from their consumers. Add to all of this, there are a vocal group of long time Poly fans that are not exactly impressed with how many of these changes are turning out. Disney may just be over reacting here.
