I know I must have missed a post at some point, but I was surprised to see the Tiki Room was no longer "under new management"...how long ago did that change happen?

From Wikipedia:

Tropical Serenade was replaced in 1998 with The Enchanted Tiki Room (Under New Management), featuring Iago and Zazu from Aladdin and The Lion King, respectively.
On January 12, 2011, a small fire broke out in the attic of the attraction. The Iago audio-animatronic figure was severely damaged in the blaze. It was announced at Disney's D23 Destination D: Walt Disney World 40th Anniversary Conference that the attraction would be refurbished and returned to the original show format.
The attraction re-opened on August 15, 2011 as Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room and was reinstated as a slightly edited version of Disneyland's original show.

Iago was a great character in Aladdin, but had no business in the Enchanted Tiki Room.:earsboy:

Yes! I couldn't stand it. We have gone a few times since 2011 and I must not have gone the last couple trips, because I was pleasantly surprised to see Iago gone!

I'm so excited to hear this news! The Tiki room was a favorite of mine as a child, and the "under new management" show was so disappointing!

I can't wait to enjoy the original once again!!

I am also happy that the original Tiki room is back. I loved it as a child and I love it now.

New management was always so disappointing to me.

ITA!!
On our last trip it was closed due to kicking the new management out. I can't wait to see it this summer. The original show brings back so many wonderful childhood memories.

Maybe it is because I never saw the original show, but I think the current version is a snooze-fest. At least Iago was entertaining. I kept thinking to myself, this is like Lawrence Welk with birds.

This. Don't go in thinking that you will be seeing the 1972 version of the WDW show. They didn't put it back the way it was. Instead, it is a third iteration, but more like the original than the UNM version. The show is shorter, which means that for those of us who use the attraction to catch a nap or cool off, those purposes have been slightly frustrated.

A little cheesy, but it was a good place to sit and rest and cool down.
