I see that there is a height restriction of 48" max on Tike's Peak. Does anyone know how strict they are with that? My 5 yo is 47" now so may be over 48" by the time we go, but he is not very adventurous with slides and would much rather play with his little brother in the kiddie section. Do they walk around with a measuring stick or anything? :confused3

Thanks!

Last year when we went there were three boys in our party. Two were under 48" and one was over(49") they made an exception and let the one that was over use tykes peak(I had to do some begging through). I am sure I got the exception because of the other two boys.

Check out Ski Patrol, it's kind of across the path from Tyke's Peak. It's aimed for kids from about 4-12 or so. They have kid sized slides and a "walk across the ice floe" pool, the water isn't very deep. How old is his little brother? If he's past the toddler stage he might enjoy Ski Patrol also.

Normally the height requirement is strictly enforced. I know a couple of years ago we had a very irate Guest because her snowflake was not allowed in the kiddie area due to above the height limit. The lifeguard called for a coordinator who got a manager. Finally, the TL Operations Manager came and told her that if she made any more fuss about it she would be escorted out of the Park.

The height requirements are usually set for safety reasons so probably not a good idea to argue it.

This is great to know. I didn't realize there was a medium-sized section. So there are slides there? Does anyone have a picture? I'm also confused about the height requirements for that area, too, though. The Disney website is contradictory. It says "Height Requirement: 48 inches (122cm) or shorter" and then it says "children less than 60 inches tall " both in regards to Ski Patrol. It also states that the water is "just over 8 feet deep" :scared1: That seems crazy.

My other DS will be 4 but is very small - only 38 in. right now. I just want to be sure that both kids will have enough to do to keep them happy. My oldest is very timid and definitely will not do the larger slides. For what it's worth, I'm not planning on arguing anything, I was just wondering if he's 48.5 - 49 inches if he will be sent away and it sounds like that is the case.

Thanks everyone for your help.

The ski patrol area is great. Tykes peak is very much for the toddler set, a 5 year old would not find anything to do. The ski patrol area has pools to swim in, slides, floating icebergs to cross while holding onto a net above and a zip line. There are deeper parts and shallower parts. Obviously the zip line area is one of the deeper parts. I'm sure both of your kids would have fun there. If your youngest is only 2 or so he will probably like tykes peak. We did wander over to look at it and my 7 & 8 year olds had fun pretending to be babies for a couple of minutes :rotfl2: The height restriction is only for the slides as far as I could tell, no one told them to get out of the water but when they asked to slide they were told no. As I said we were only there a few minutes so they may have asked them to leave if we had tried to stay and play in the water longer, I don't know.
