Woods marries fiancee in Barbados
Tiger Woods teed off on a life of love in Barbados Tuesday, marrying Swedish model Elin Nordegren in a romantic sunset ceremony overlooking an 18-hole golf course and the Caribbean Sea.
The picture-perfect pair said their vows at the Country Club house of the island's top resort, Sandy Lane, in an elegant ceremony costing millions.
As they headed up the aisle, Nordegren, 24, who was wearing a sleeveless, flowing white gown and veil, tenderly wrapped her arm around the world famous sportsman.
Woods, 28, looked nervous but dapper, wearing a green-beige suit and brown shoes.
The couple were followed by three bride's maids, wearing sea-foam green, floor-length, halter-neck dresses, who were accompanied by three groomsmen in matching green-beige suits.
Some 120 friends and relatives from around the world flew in for the lavish ceremony and mingled with many of Woods' fellow golfers, celebrity pals and sportsmen including retired NBA superstars Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley, who arrived in a silver Mercedes.
Every detail was planned months in advance with no expense spared, insiders said.
At Woods' request, 10,000 black roses were flown in to adorn the Country Club banquet room, where caviar and vintage champagne were served after the pair said their vows, according to sources in Barbados.
Pagodas covered in flowing white netting and adorned with sprays of lilies decorated the lawn.
The happy couple were set to spend their wedding night in a $20,000 honeymoon suite.
Fiercely private Woods took no chances with unwanted spectators on his special day, splashing out $1.5 million to book the entire 112-room Sandy Lane complex for nine nights.
Tuesday, armed police and security guarded the hotel grounds and beach while Coast Guard and police launches patrolled the sea to ward off sightseers.
Woods and Nordegren, who arrived with her twin sister and pals 10 days ago, avoided each other before the ceremony.
Woods spent his last days as a bachelor staying on board the opulent, three-decked motor yacht named Privacy, hired for a two weeks at the cost of $140,000.
Nordegren, also a former nanny, meanwhile stayed in a $32,000-a-night villa adjoining the world-class hotel.
