Hi everyone,

We want to go from the Orlando Interanational Airport to Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter ~ FAST & CHEAP!
We've used Tiffany Town Car in the past with success... but see that FL Tous is Disboard recommended. They both seem to be priced about the same for 3 aduls, 2 bags and 3 carryons. We'd use a towncar.

Which company should we go with?!

Thanks!

I've used both and was happy with both. Don't misread that FL Tours is recommended here..they are a board sponsor, which means they make it possible for our boards to continue.
I will say this, in the interest of fairness....I have used DME, Towncar services (several different companies) and a private car to get from MCO to my resorts. DME has routinely gotten me to my resort in an average of about 70 mins...deplaning to resort.
I have had times of between 45 and 65 mins using a car service..depending on whether or not I had checked luggage. The times I have had carryon bags only, it took me a total of 45 mins to get from the gate to resort. If I had checked bags to get, I had an addtl 15 or so minutes.

So, it's going to be hard to find a cheap and quick way from MCO to the resort..you may have to settle on one or the other.

So, having now given you way more info than you asked for...which company would I go with?? I'm not really sure. I've had consistently better service with Tiffany. Only one time did we have any issue and that was just the less than warm and fuzzy feeling we got from our driver. But he may have had stuff on his mind..he was so much nicer on the way back.
With FL Tours, I had issues making a promised grocery stop on Thanksgiving Day. I repeatedly asked if they were sure I would be able to make a quick stop...for just a few things, not a weeks worth of groceries. I was told four different times that making a stop wasn't gong to be an issue. Well, when I mentioned it to our driver, I was told that no stores were open..it's Thanksgiving!! I told him I didn't need a full grocery store, a convenience store would be fine. AGain I was told nothing was open...this was at about 11:30 in the morning. I knew full well that there would be a convenience store open..the driver just wanted to be done with us so he could go home to his T-day dinner!!!
But, ownership has changed hands at least twice since then. I haven't heard of anyone having an issue with them for about a year or so.
You should be fine with either one.

These days when we fly we use DME, but in the past we always used Tiffany and never had any probelms! They were prompt, fast, and clean.

I have used both services. I had good service with FL tours, but pretty great service with Tiffany. I am going back in Oct. and using Tiffany again.

Thank you! What resort did you stay at and what kind of travel time can we expect? Map Quest says it should only take us 26 minutes to go 19+ miles.

We traveled to Boardwalk and Old Key West with Tiffany. It is about 30 minutes from the airport to the hotels. We have had all carry-on bags and the time we got off the airplane and were in the car was minutes! They park the car in a close location.

[FONT=&quot]We just used Tiffanytowncars dot com in October '08. There were 7 of us so we needed a big van. The driver was at the baggage pick up with a large sign that had my name on it. He was very friendly and polite. Because we had over 14 bags the driver jump right in and helped us take the bags to the van. When I asked about our requested grocery stop he had overheard my DS say he forgot the stroller and offer to take us to the nearest WalMart even though it was out of the way going to SSR. The driver never complained about the extra wait even though it was more then 30 minutes that their website states. When we came out of WalMart he came right out and helped load the groceries and then it was on to SSR. Again at SSR he helped unload everything to bell service. We had the same driver for our return to MCO.

We used DME for our March '09 trip and will continue because we want to save the $$ to spend in the parks.

Is Happy Limo any good? We just reserved them to take us from CBR to Port Canaveral.

The actual drive from MCO - Disney Property averages about 35 minutes.

You will actually be IN the airport longer than that.

About 15 - 20 minutes to get from your gate to baggage claim. 5 minutes to an hour or more to claim your luggage, (if there is a thunderstorm all luggage handling stops). Another 5 - 15 minutes for the driver to retrieve their car from the lot and load you up.

We have used both and I have to agree good service with Fl tours, GREAT with Tiffany. We are using Tiffany again in Dec. Our last trip in Sept 08 we got picked up at MCO at 1100 had a grocery stop and was at the BCv and CHECKED IN by 1210pm.

We've used Tiffany for the last three years. Will use them again in April. Always had great service and have had the same driver every time. Kind of neat.

We used Happy and had a great experience. Our trip was in April/May. We reserved a limo for both legs. Driver was waiting for use with a Happy Birthday sign for my son and he took our bags for us from the carousel to the car (well 2 of them and I had the third). Very professional and courteous. Movie playing and drinks in the car waiting. We were upgraded to a stretch Navigator for the return trip. They were prompt both times (even a little early for our return which was good). www.mousesavers.com has a discount code for booking round trip with them.

Our car was parked a level down and undercover. We walked right to it. Is that not the case now?

You do walk one level down and to the vehicle undercover, 5 minutes from baggage to loading the vehicle. There are still some companies who try to short cut the procedure. The poster has not visited MCO in the past year and 1/2 half or is not familiar with the current procedures.

You are right, I have not used a towncar in many years. The last time I used one, after gathering our luggage, we went down to level 1, then waited while he fetched his car from a lot somewhere.

Hi everyone,

We want to go from the Orlando Interanational Airport to Disney's Port Orleans French Quarter ~ FAST & CHEAP!

A car service provides personal service. A lot of people like personal service, and don't mind paying for it.

You asked for fast and cheap. DME is free. A car service might save you 30 minutes if you don't have checked luggage (or use DME for luggage only--read the sticky). A car service will save you very little time if you get you get your checked luggage but would use luggage delivery with DME.

There are some advantages to using a car service, but not for passengers looking for cheap.

{shrug} Do you want to make a grocery stop? I can't imagine that it's worth $65 one way or $109 round trip (plus tip!) to save myself 15-30 minutes each way. DME is free and I have personally had good luck with it. Plus, you can go right to the bus without waiting for your checked bags. They will be delivered later.

Another option would be to rent a car. Avis has good pricing with their code K199060 (from Mousesavers). You would pay about $45 with taxes for a car big enough for 3 of you. Send one person for the car while you wait for luggage. The downside is that you need to drop the car off when you're done with it.

FL tours are certainly better than anything else. i have tried it out myself and have enjoyed lavishly in its tour. You should also check it out.
